Eat Drink & Be Mary: May 2018

Jackson Cole | TWO MONTHS

SIZE:  Cole is such a roll-y pole-y and I love it!  He is now 13 lbs exactly, wearing size 2(!) diapers and 0-3 month clothes.

BREASTFEEDING: He's now eating 10-15 minutes every 2-3 hours.  Although the past couple of days he's been eating 15+ minutes anywhere from 20 minutes later to a 3 hours stretch -- thanks leap 2 *insert eye roll here*

I've also started pumping once a day so store up some milk for the future.

SLEEP: We pretty much have no schedule whatsoever -- it's Cole's world and we're just living in it.  ;)  BUT he does consistently wake up between 7-8am everyday and I try to put him to down at night between 9-10pm.  He generally gives me at least one good stretch of 4.5-5 hours and then sometimes he'll do another good 4ish hours but sometimes he'll get up every 2 hours after that.  He also went 7.5 hours twice and although it was apparently a fluke it was a glorious day!

MILESTONES: he is SO much more alert, cooing, he started smiling and my heart is total mush

LOVES: his paci, "if you're happy and you know it..." and "the itsy bitsy spider", the baby trend bouncer we got that sings and vibrates, and also everything else from month 1 (rock n play, sleeping on my chest, bath time, walks...)

DISLIKES: getting out of the bath time, nose frida, and he's starting to come around on Tummy Time the stronger he gets but still lets us know when he's over it

PLACES HE'S BEEN: Target - baby's first Target run must be documented, family day date to Mellow Mushroom

family day date to Mellow Mushroom to celebrate Mother's Day

Mother's Day

PERSONALITY: His personality is still pretty calm and easy going and I have a feeling it'll stay this way.  He definitely prefers to be held, is my little sidekick, and I don't mind it one bit.  -- STILL TRUE

WHO HE LOOKS LIKE: Daddy's Mini Me, although the chubbier his cheeks get more people comment how they can see me in him so there's that...

Daddy's Mini Me

NICKNAMES: The main three I say are buddy, Coley, and cutie boy (ha).  But we do still call him a piglet from all his grunting and a turtle when he's making the face that (duh) makes him look like a little turtle.  ;)

Mother's Day
how we deal with witching hour

meeting his Great-Grandparents

  • I've been dairy free for a month, and Cole's skin has cleared up and he is much less gassy/fussy after eating so it looks like we'll be sticking to this until at least 6 months
  • celebrated my first Mother's Day
  • he got his 2 month shots...totally heartbreaking y'all!
  • witching hour has finally arrived ugh! and is usually around 7pm but can generally be overcome by running bath water which then just turns into bath time

I can already tell he's growing up too fast; time slow down!!

Safari Nursery Reveal

FINALLY Cole's nursery is 100% done.  I am so so in love with how it all turned out.

When we first found out we were pregnant, or if I'm being honest I definitely had a pinterest board going before we even knew, I had a hard time deciding what theme I'd want to go with for a boy's nursery.  And after many, many hours on Pinterest and Etsy I came up with safari.

To see my original inspiration and plans for the nursery check out THIS POST.

Once we started buying pieces and putting the room together many of my original ideas changed, but I'm OBSESSED with how it turned out -- and good thing because little man and I spend a lot of time in their together.

So let's get to it.  Everything I can find links for will be linked at the bottom of this post.

We were so so blessed to be given TONS of hand me downs from my SIL including this crib that grows into a toddler bed.  Which worked out perfect because boy or girl I knew I wanted a white crib.

White & Grey Pom Curtains (similar, similar) | Nate Berkus

Oh Joy! Zebra Print Crib Sheet (similar) | Target

Changing Pad Cover (similar) | Target

Wood "C" | Hobby Lobby

Mirror | Target

Elephant Basket | TJ Maxx

"I Love You" Sign | TJ Maxx

Fun Fact: Cole LOVES laying on this changing pad.  I have no idea what it is.  Even when he was a teeny, tiny newborn he'd just lay and stare usually towards the mirror - odd since it was when he could only see maybe 12 inches away so he couldn't make out anything in the mirror.  Now he still loves laying there squirming, wiggling, kicking and cooing away.

Animal Print | Home Goods

Two by Two Jersey Knit Blanket | Target

Diaper Bag | Target

Elephant Poof | Walmart

A comfy rocker/glider was one of the things I wanted most because hello spending A LOT of time in here.  And this chair that my parents got me (and on amazon prime too, winning) is perfection.  It's the perfect grey, comfy - trust me I've spent countless hours in this chair the last 2 months - easy to assemble, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.  I should mention that Thomas doesn't find it all that comfy but he's 5'11 and is just too tall BUT he doesn't feed the babe so that's a-okay with me.  ;)

I know I said we're 100% done above, but the decor ontop of this dresser I'm not totally sold on.  Mainly the safari box needs to go (I mean it's a gift box for goodness sake), but I don't know what to fill the spot with...suggestions?

9 Cube Organizer | Walmart (painted BEHR Jet Ski)

Confession: My mom and I bought the set of 4 canvases BEFORE we knew Baby T was in fact Cole, but I had just started thinking that I was having a boy.  We found them at Home Goods, and y'all know you never know how long things are going to last there and they were seriously perfect for the safari theme I had been dreaming up.  No worries we made sure we could return them if it ended up being a girl, haha.

Also, the animal hook board is a DIY project that finally completed this nursery.  I found a picture of a similar one on Pinterest and I am in love with how it turned out.  I think I'll throw up a quick how-to post soon on how we ended up doing.

Boppy Lounger - Amazon
Boppy Cover - Amazon
Hanging Wall Organizer - Walmart
Sound Machine - Hatch Baby (also on Amazon, Target - basically everywhere)
Cool Mist Humidifier - Target

And that's it y'all.  I am so so in love with how this space turned out, and as you can see we love Target and Home Goods, haha.  There were definitely some changes from the original inspiration and how I pictured the set up in my head but that's bound to happen.  And I'm 100% obsessed with the end result.
