Y'all Summer Break is T W O days away.  I can practically smell it.  Sleeping in.  Peeing when I want to (teacher probs).  Going to the lake.  Pool days.  Literally so excited.  So so excited.

TV Night Snacks: Homemade Soft Pretzels + Coca-Cola

This shop/post has been compensated by Collective Bias, INC. and The Coca-Cola Company, all opinions are mine alone. #PlayPauseRefresh #CollectiveBias

If you asked Thomas and I what are favorite thing to do together the PG answer would be to watch tv together.  Y'all we are serious about our shows.  Don't even bother trying to make Thursday night plans with us, we've got plans.  And when a series comes out consider our weekend booked, we will be bingeing the entire thing.
And it's no secret we take our snacks just as seriously.  One of our favorite combos?  Homemade soft pretzels and Coca-Cola.  Classic.

Although my husband and I's personalities are very different {a post on why we work here} we are both pretty big introverts and homebodies.  And we seriously get excited when we have a night of shows to catch up on.  Snuggling up on the couch with a Coca-Cola and a salty snack is our kind of a good night.

Thomas has been a die hard Coca-Cola and popcorn kinda dude since we met.  As in, its his go to snack every night.

Lately, we've tried to switch our salty snacks up a bit, and often go for sushi (obsessing over spicy tuna lately).  My dad made us soft pretzels on our last visit, and they reminded me of the soft pretzels I made with my Grandmama a couple years ago.  So of course, I had to make them again this past weekend for Thomas and I to enjoy while catching up on our favorite shows.

And what kinda blogger would I be if I didn't share the recipe with you for your next TV night?

BUT, before I share all the salty-goodness details.  I have sweepstakes deets for ya.  Are you planning on having a girls night, game night or TV night?  Here's how you can enter the sweepstakes.
1. Pick up your favorite Coca-Cola beverage and program your night.
2. Take a picture of how you enjoy your Coca-Cola during your TV night.  Make sure the program you are watching is on the TV but out of the picture.
3. Share your photo on Twitter or Instagram with both #programyournight and #sweepstakes for a chance to win cool prizes.

And now for the recipe...

1 1/2 cups Warm Water
1 tbsp Sugar
2 tsp Kosher Salt
1 package Active Dry Yeast
4 1/2 cups Flour
1/2 stick of Butter, Melted
vegetable oil

10 cups of Water
2/3 cups of Baking Soda

1 Egg Yolk, beaten
1 tsp water

*my dad suggests Sea Salt to use for the Pretzel Salt

INSTRUCTIONS: preheat oven to 450F

1. Mix together in a stand mixer water, sugar, and salt.  Then add in the yeast and wait 5 minutes while the yeast begins to foam/bubble.

2. Add in the flour and butter.  Using the dough hook, mix until combined thoroughly.

3.  Change to medium speed, and continue to mix for 4-5 minutes.  The dough should begin to form a ball and become less sticky.  Add flour as needed until the dough begins to "bounce back" when you press your finger against it.  (I had to add approx. 1/4 cup)

4. Remove dough from bowl, oil the bowl and return the dough to the bowl.  Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise for about 50 minutes (until it doubles in size) in a warm area.

*I usually sit the bowl ontop of the stove while the oven begins to preheat

5. Brush a cookie sheet with vegetable oil and set aside.

6. Divide dough into 8 sections.

7.  Roll each section into snakes and then twist to form your pretzels.  Set aside.

*If you are having trouble creating the pretzel shape, I suggest looking up a youtube video.  Confession: I'm TERRIBLE at this and have my husband help.

8.  Bring to a rolling boil, 10 cups of water and 2/3 baking soda.

9.  While the water is beginning to boil create your egg wash for the pretzels.

10.  Boil each pretzel individually for 30 seconds, and then set on the oiled cookie sheet.  Brush with the egg wash and top with pretzel salt.

11.  Bake pretzels at 450F for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

12.  Allow to cool and enjoy!

I dare you not to eat them all in one TV night! ;)

What is your favorite activity to do with your husband/boyfriend/best friend?  What is your go-to TV snack?  Are you an introvert or extrovert?  Find more TV inspiration with Coca-Cola here.

The Pressure to be Picture Perfect

ivory tunic c/o

Alright y'all.  It's time to get real for a minute.

I'm currently sitting on my couch, under a blanket (and yes, it was in the 90s today) with a box of cheerios by my side, and My Life Well Loved's Instagram Live playing in the background.  Oh and it's thunder storming.  Not to mention, I still need to write my lesson plans for the week and get my workout in for the day.

And here's the thing.  I just feel so much pressure and anxiety lately.  {read other posts on anxiety here and here}  A pressure to perform and be so picture perfect.  Not to be confused with my average anxiety.

Let me explain.
I am obsessed with Instagram.  It is by far my favorite social media platform.  And I check it WAY WAY more than I should.  BUT lately, I feel so pressured to have that PERFECT picture to post, that it has kept me from posting at all.

And I know, that's stupid.  But I can't be the only one right?

Why do we put this pressure on ourselves?  Why do we feel the need to seem to have it all together?  That our live is filled with white backgrounds, and the perfect array of makeup products and clothes.

Let's get real with each other y'all.  Less perfect pictures.  More memories captured.  More real moments shared.  Blurry.  Messy.  Overexposed.  REAL.

One last thing?  If we're being real, I'm in the process of slowly revamp my closet (shh, don't tell my hubby ;)), but ya girl has to do it on a budget. has been my vice lately.  If you haven't heard of the site before (do you live under a rock!) it's a daily deal site.  Honestly, I have the app on my iPad and I check it each night to catch all the best deals.  I've ordered from them easily over a dozen times, and have NEVER been disappointed.  And, of course, this ivory tunic was right up my alley.  Next on my list, the perfect floral dress.

Now don't mind me but I'm about to continue binge watching 90210 while eating my Cheerios (sans milk) and Coke Zero, all while trying to write the LAST week of lesson plans for the year.  EEK!

Although, products in this post were sent to me to review.
The words and opinions are 100% my own.
Thanks for supporting Eat Drink & Be Mary.

Why You Should Be Using Walmart Grocery Pick Up

If you follow me on snapchat, you've heard me blab on about Walmart's Grocery Pick Up service.  And y'all it's so so good.  But before I get carried away let me give you the facts.  And please, please let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

This is most definitely not sponsored: I am just o b s e s s e d with the fact that I can now get my groceries without having to go into the store .

+ It's FREE!  Yes, free.  Unlike other stores, the is no charge for this service.

+ You do have to spend at least $30, but really who doesn't spend at least $30 when they go to Walmart.

+ You place your order online at

+ You can search items or chose from their departments (produce, organic shop, eggs & dairy), and simply add them to your cart.

+ It shows you your total as you go, for those of you on a budget (*raises hand*).

+ You have to place the order by midnight the day you want to pick it up.  As in, you can't place the order and pick it up hours later.  But you CAN place it Sunday and pick it up any day you want within the week.

+ You get to chose a day to pick up your groceries (as long as you did the above) and a hour slot within that day as late as 8pm.

+ The employees will bring your groceries out to your car, and usually let you know which bags have your eggs/bread, and let you check out your product beforehand.  This all depends on the person bringing out your groceries, but I've never had a bad experience with this.

+ They never do you wrong.  A couple times they've been out of what I ordered.  There are two options when this happens.

1. They simply take it off your order, and obviously don't charge you for it.

2.  Substitute it with something similar.  For example: pumpkin seeds they'd either give you a different brand or the closest thing to like sunflower seeds.

WELL, the last two times they've been out of the product and they totally hooked a girl up.

The first time I ordered a 12 pack of sparkling water (12oz cans), and instead they gave me 12 1 Liter bottles of the same brand, same flavor sparkling water.  WIN.

Also, a blogger I follow on insta-stories, said when she ordered diapers they were out of the 25 pack and gave her the 75 pack free of charge.

Y'all this is literally to good.

+ Call on your way to Walmart and when you arrive to shorten your wait time.  This is what Walmart suggests, but sometimes I only call when I arrive and they have brought it out within 5 minutes every time.

Except once.  But I'm pretty sure it was all because of the torrential downpour.

Funny Story.

Once I went after work to pick up the groceries (I usually do this on a weekend but had been out of town) and when I got to Walmart it began to rain.  It should also be noted that I had already driven 34 miles with my gas light on and I can go a max. of 40 miles.  YIKES!

Then the down pour starts.  Next thing I know I've waited 17 minutes and the gal finally brings out my order.  I get out to help her, and I begin to load in the groceries, first a gallon of milk and then orange juice -- wait, I didn't order this.

"I don't think this is my order."
"Your name is DeeDee right?"

*tries another hard to pronouce name*

And she heads back into the warehouse to find my long lost order, I assume.  Finally, with a total of 30-minutes I finally had my order, was completely drenched and just barely made it to the gas station without running out of gas.

Last but not least, you can save $10 off your order with this referral link.  I'll also, get $10 off if you use it and that'd fo' sure help a girl out.

And the best part?  As if saving $10 just because isn't enough.  You can try the service for free, you don't have to see all of Walmart's finest and still get your groceries, and if you hate it you don't have to do it again.  I mean, come on.

Let me know if you have any questions.  And happy shopping y'all.

C U R R E N T L Y + G O A L S

Currently I'm..

Drinking: same as usual: water with mio, sparkling water, coke zero and my morning coffee.  although lately instead of normal creamer I've been using an almond milk creamer and it took a little getting used to I'm loving it now.

Cooking/Baking: all the fried eggs one could dream of.  oh and this week I'm trying out this 3 ingredient, 21-day-fix-approved pizza recipe so we'll see how that goes.

Wearing: This Camoflauge Jacket UNDER $20 - Crisscross Tee from Walmart (what the what, I see you Walmart) for $7.  I can't stop wearing EITHER of them any chance I get.  Oh and I'm a total repeat offender with these jeans as well.  If I'm not at school or on my couch these bad boys are on my body.  No shame.

Feeling: so incredibly tired.  I'm guessing it's the stress of state testing mixed with crazy 6th graders, but I've been over the top exhausted this past week.  Usually once I get up I'm good to go until after work, but I've been tired well into the afternoon lately.  Yesterday I even slept in until 10:30 and had to force myself out of bed bc I could've kept sleeping.  Odd.

Praying: for patience. all day, everyday y'all.  #lifeinsixthgrade
I've also had a couple friends have stillbirths lately.  I can't imagine the pain and grief and everything else that comes along with that, so praying it is.

Crafting: I've been working on some summerish water bottles and although I wish the sticker was a tad bit larger, I like how this turned out.

Buying: Honestly, I haven't even bought that many things lately.  My husband would be proud.  BUT I did buy these OPI Infinte Shine 2 polishes on a BOGO sale from ULTA.  Cajun Shrimp + Got Myself into a JAM-Balaya.  And honestly I think I'm returning JAM-Balaya one, and suggestions on what shade I should pick up instead?

And now that we've caught up a little on what I've been up to this month, let's jump to those goals...

As for my April goals, I'd say I did pretty darn good.  Let's take a little look..

Continue and Improve with 21 Day Fix & Working Out | mehh.  I'm aiming for better this month.

+ Make it through Testing Month | We still have testing for another week and a half.  Insert all the eye rolls here.  Not to mention the last week of school is exams for each content area too.  Why, just why!!

Declutter my makeup | Well I didn't really do this, but I've been working on wearing more of what I own so same type deal..sorta.

+ Try 3 new recipes & 1 new dessert | Let's see, I made spaghetti squash, broccoli mac and cheese, and chicken parmesan (all 21 day fix)  and I have a new dessert ready to go for next weekend.  Not to shabby.

+ Try 2 more new recipes.

+ Make it to summer break, June 2nd at 3pm I'm looking at you!

+ Only have one cheat meal a week.

+ Blog consistently 3x a week.

Alright May, bring it on.  I can totally do this; only 3 weeks-ish stand between me and summer break.  Oh glorious day!

What are your goals for this month?

Cake Batter Puppy Chow

Confession: out of all the puppy chow recipes I've made, this one is my absolute fave.

Granted, I'm not a chocolate gal and even though everyone is obsessed with this patriotic, Snickers version I made last Summer it's not for me.  But a cake batter version?  Yes, please.

Another confession?  Totally off subject.  I think I'm starting to l o v e IG Stories now.  I really didn't like it at first.  But now most of my favorite snapchatters have stopped posting and mainly use IG.  Not to mention I love being able to doodle on IG...if only they could get on board with the filters.  Anyone else loving IG stories lately?  Follow along and watch my stories here.

Also, my students have recently found my instagram account.  Lordy.

One last confession.  I've actually post this recipe before but wanted to update the photography for the recipe.  And I know I have new followers since posting it anyways..and you don't wanna miss this one.

Okay enough with the confession and more about this recipe.  I first made this recipe in college for T and his roommate, and y'all I kid you not over half of the huge batch I made was gone in a day.  I tend to make smaller batches now that I know how far a couple cups of the chex cereal goes now.  BUT dang those boys could eat.

Not that I blame them, this stuff is killer.  And way, way addicting.  Don't take my word for it.  Try it for yourself.

Snap me your creations @ mary_timmerman.

4 cups of Rice Chex Cereal
10 oz package of Candiquik (or any other melting chocolate)
3/4 cup of Yellow Cake Mix
1/4 cup of Powdered Sugar
Sprinkles (optional)

1.  In a microwavable bowl, melt the Candiquik every 30 seconds.  Stirring in between.  (about 1.5 min)

2. Add the rice cereal to the Candiquik and stir it in, covering the cereal in the melting chocolate.

3. Pour the powdered sugar and the cake mix in a gallon ziploc bag.  Shake to mix.

**add sprinkles to the mix for extra festiveness.

4. Add the cereal to the gallon bag, and shake until covered.

5.  Use a slotted spoon (or sifter) to remove the rice cereal without getting all the excess powered sugar-cake mixture.

6.  Devour, because yes that's what will happen.  ;)

Happy Monday friends.  We start testing today, so my step goal is 15k (which is SUPER high for me) but I plan on pacing ALL of testing.  May your coffee be strong and your day feel super short.  AND may the rest of your week be filled with this deliciousness.

Comment your email below if you have a fitbit so we can challenge each other!  And snap me if you make this recipe.
