Eat Drink & Be Mary: February 2017

7 Things You're Probably Forgetting to Clean

This past weekend I was mopping our bathroom floor on my hands and knees because I feel like our Shark Steam Mop (which I am totally in love with) just pushes around the dirt in there.  Yuck.  And while I was doing that glamorous task I realized how dirty the outside of our toilet was.

Y'all this is real life right here.  Gross, dirty, dusty real life.

And seeing the outside of our toilet all up close and personal, made me realize all the things we may be forgetting to clean every once in a while.

I've come up with a list of 7 things you're (and by that I mean me too) probably forgetting to clean.  And let's face it I'm sure I'm still missing some things so help us all out and leave them below in the comments.

1. Baseboards
2. Cabinets (the outsides and underneath everything)
3. Ceiling Fans
4. Windows
5. The inside of your refrigerator
6. The outside of your toilet
7. Underneath the beds

My goal is to complete one or two of these each week so that I'll hit them every three months or so.

TGIF y'all.  And now you can get to your weekend cleaning.

But this weekend I'll be traveling to NC to see my best friends and one sweet little baby.  Keep up on Instagram and Snapchat.

15 under $15 | Office Decor

I know, I know I've been blabbing your ears off about our office makeover.  But y'all it's actually starting to come together.

The rooms been cleared out.  The new lighting has been chosen.  New carpet has arrived.  Still need to pick a new storage desk (for all my craft/Cricut materials), and add some small decor items and possibly a floor lamp and we'll be good to go.

But I've found so many gems as far as inexpensive but cuuute decor.  So I thought I'd round them up for y'all.  So here's my 15 prints and random knick knacks under $15

"Office Sweet Office" | I mean obviously...

Macaron Overload print

"Home is wherever I'm with You" print

"wake up and makeup" | perfect for your vanity or area where you do your makeup (mine happens to be in the office)

the fine art of staying in | currently in my Etsy cart just waiting to be purchased

SC Food Map | she has several other states as well (and other super cute prints as well)

Wifi Password Printable | our office will eventually double as a guest room so I think this would be super cute

Boston Skyline | these are so beautiful and she has several different skylines available in her shop

But First Coffee

Crystal Diamond Paperweight | on sale for $2.50 and so dang cute

fake plants | I mean real plants/flowers are good and all, but these ones don't die when I forget to water them.  Which let's face it is going to happen.  Target specifically has really cute options right now that are on sale.

Blue and Gold Stripes Wood Flush Mount | this would specially go well in our office because of it's colors.  But a fantastic price and Target have several decor pieces like this with different prints/pictures on the front if the blue-gold combo. isn't working for you.

Acrylic Letters | I'm debating to get a lone "T" or spell out office

rose gold acrylic stapler | I know the link says 10.99 but in store I know it's on sale for less.  And something that doubles as functional and decor is a-okay in my book.

PROTIPS |  keep your eye on the Target Dollar Spot.  They always have hidden gems that are $5 or less.  AND Hobby Lobby always has a 40% off coupon on their app.

ps. TJ Maxx hardly ever has their stuff where you can link to it online, but it's a fab place to check out for some inexpensive decor.

And that's it folks.  I am seriously so in love with how our office space is coming together.  I can't wait to share the finished product with y'all.  But we're getting their slowly but surely.

Where is your favorite place to shop for home decor?

Winter Must Haves

Honestly, it's hardly felt like much of a winter at all here in South Carolina.  Not that I'm complaining or anything.  Cause trust me I'm loving it.

I'm willing to bet that this will bring a pretty brutal Summer, but until then...

It's been a while since I've rounded up some of my must haves.  BUT I love reading and rounding up these types post.  So here it goes for my winter must haves.

one // Hunter Boots
I'm totally in love with my Hunter Boots.  I've been dying to get these boot socks to make them even warmer.  But like I said it's not that cold here anyways (yes, even during Winter).  Even without the socks they're great rain, snow, or chilly weather.

two // Cardigans
I love these for in and out of work.  They're easy, cute, and help keep you a tad bit warmer.  The end.

cardigan | hunter boots | football tee (sold out, similar and here)

three // ELF Hydrating Bubble Mask
I got this mask in an Influesnter box several months ago.  An all ELF box I might win.  AND this mask is such a score.  It's only $6 and you get so so many uses.  It sorta has an odd, tingly sensation and legit feels like bubbles from a bubble bath are on your face.  But y'all.  My face is so hydrated and soft after this mask.

four // Juice Beauty Moisturizer

five // Girl Scout Cookies
I mean let's be honest.  They only come out once a year, and I just can't resist.  Legit ate two boxes this weekend.

six // L'oreal Infallible Artist Foundation Blender
This isn't really a must have just for winter.  But I'm totally obsessed and its less than $10.  Basically anything under $10 and I can't resist.

seven // Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick
Real talk right here.  This lipstick is $5, I put it on getting ready for work and when I got home at 5pm it still looked flawless.  So flaking, fading, felt comfortable.  All the heart eyes.  My favorite is "rebel rose" but I also have "give me mocha" and "berry recognize".

"give me mocha"

eight // Hydrating Hair Care Products
Apparently I have a really dry scalp.  It's been this way for the past couple of years, but I thought it was dandruff.  True life.  My hair dresser said nope, it's just dry..oh and fun fact Head and Shoulders was just making it worse.  Anyways since then I've been really working to hydrate my scalp, and right now I'm really liking these two products: Garnier Whole Blends Coconut Water and Vanilla Milk Hydrating Hair Mask and IGK Smoke & Mirrors Conditioning Cleansing Oil.

Let us all know what works for you if you also have a dry scalp (especially in these winter months) in the comments below.

There ya have it.  My eight must haves for winter.  I'm sure I'm forgetting something.  So leave your must haves in the comments below.  Anyone else totally in love with their Hunter boots?  I'll have to tell y'all what Remi did to them, but that's another story for another day.  (maybe I'll share on snapchat? @mary_timmerman)

Last Minute Valentines Gift DIY | "You're the Balm Valentine!"

Looking for a last minute Valentines gift?  I've totally got you.  Your galentine.  Teachers.  Classmates.  Coworkers.  You name it this will be perfect.  And take like 5 minutes.  Win.

Not to mention this could easily be adapted for any other occassion, not just Valentines Day.

I bought 4 random EOS balms for my coworkers and some card stock.

I just used my Cricut Explore Air to cut out a 1 1/2 inch hold from the card stock.  However, I believe their is a hand held dicut for that exact size circle at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.

And this gift is totally not complete without the pun.  You're the "BALM"

I added "Happy Valentines Day" below considering I was gifting this to my coworkers, but "you're the balm, valentine" would be super cute for others.

I can already see this being so dang adorable for Easter (drawing little bunny ears around it) or changing up the saying to fit end-of-the-year gifts and birthdays.

Happy happy day my galentines.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  What are your Valentines day plans?

Cookies n Cream Bark

Y'all, where is 2017 going?  Valentines is less than a week away.  And honestly, I'd be lying if I said I wish the days (and year) would slow down.

It's true what they say, the days are long but the years are short.

I often find myself wishing the days away.

Dreaming of summertime.  Dreaming of the future.

I know I shouldn't do that.

One day I'll want the days to drag on.

But not today.

And I think that's okay.  We're all guilty of that every once in a while, right?

Alright mini-venting sesh over.

Something else I'm guilty of?  Indulging when I get a little stressed out (hints the wishing these days would pass quicker).  And y'all, I've got a legit recipe for those days you wanna indulge.

No baking.  Two ingredients.  EASY EASY EASY y'all.

Thomas found a recipe similar to this on Facebook a while back and we've been making it ever since.

+ 12 oz bag of white chocolate chips
+ Oreos (1 row of Oreos for every 12 oz bag of c.chips)

1. Crush Oreos in a ziploc bag with a wooden spoon.
2. Melt white chocolate chips on low, in a medium size pot.  Be careful to closely monitor, stirring frequently, so the chocolate doesn't burn.
3. Pour crushed Oreos into melted chocolate chips and mix.
4. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.  Pour the mixture onto the paper, and spread it out "flat."
5. Freeze for 30 minutes.
6. Break apart into shards.

What are you making for Valentines day this year?  What is your go-to dessert recipe?   Ever find yourself wishing the days away?  Humor me in the comments below.

It's Friday Jr. Y'all!

Office Lighting | on a budget

Happy Monday y'all.  If you follow me on SC (@mary_timmerman) you heard me blab this weekend about finally getting around to decorating our office.  And y'all, I'm so. dang. excited. to be getting this room how I want it to be.....FINALLY.

I post the mood board for this room, way way back -- read: september.  And then a couple months ago I bought this leopard rug.  And I even thought I had the lighting choice nailed down too, BUTTTTT then I went to Hobby Lobby and saw it (the light in the mood board) in person and it was just too too small.

So back to the drawing board we go.  And with the room cleared out it's go time baby.

This is where y'all come in.  I've narrowed it down to four options, that I feel are pretty reasonably priced.  Vote for your favorite down below.  Help a sister out y'all.

[ pin this! ]

[ going top to bottom, left to right ]

1. Semi Flush Mount Barn Metal Light | Amazon $59.99 (or a chandelier version here for double the price...whatttt)

2. Aged Bronze Ceiling Fan | Amazon $176.74 -- so I definitely thought this was cheaper when I was rounding up my final options and compiling this post...whomp whomp.

3. Lantern Candle Chandelier | Amazon $139.99

4. Abstract 4 Crystal Chandelier | Overstock $123.99

So, if I'm being honest I'm totally leaning toward #4, but I just don't know.  haaaalp.

It's Fri-YAY Y'all | Vol. 1

Another week down, another week closer to Spring Break y'all.  I kinda love February.  It's a short month, there is red, pink and glitter everywhere, and hello Valentines.

This week is the first weekend we've had all year, literally, that we don't have any plans.  Hallelujah.  I see a lot of relaxing on the couch, netflix and possibly an ULTA run in my future.

So, let's jump in to this week's five things.  Side note: I feel like this needs a "series" name, but can't think of one.  I generally call it "five on friday" from a linkup I used to participate in...but I'm feeling an upgrade.  Any suggestions?

burgundy dress c/o SheIn , lace up peep toe heels | Shoe Dazzle , leather jacket | old, Maurices , sunglasses | ROMWE

ONE // Burgundy Velvet Dress

Anyone else totally jumping on board the velvet train?  I've been seeing it everywhere lately, and I'm loving it.  It's so perfect for winter-y weather.  So when I came across this burgundy velvet dress on SheIn, it was as good as mine.  And this isn't the only velvet piece I own, so stay tuned for more.

Oh, and seriously, how cute is this look for Valentines Day?  And my shoes were $10 through the deals on ShoeDazzle.  Whattttt?

As I was browsing pinterest last night, I came across this pin from Meg O. on the go and was just like "yasssssss".  Y'all know I am recently into makeup; especially drugstore makeup (cheers for not breaking the bank).  I can't wait to try out several more of these concealers, but I already have (and love) the Maybelline Better Skin and Age Rewind.

THREE // Office Decor
If you follow me on Snapchat (mary_timmerman) you saw that T helped me clean out the office this past week -- eek!  So this weekend's game plan is to reorganize my desk and get a game plan for the new decor.  If you missed the mood board I shared months ago, check it out here.  BUT I'm trying to work on a gallery wall of sorts, and I'm thinking this print on Etsy is perfection.

FOUR // Quote for the Week

Work everyday, and the results will come:

FIVE // L'OREAL Infallible Beauty Blender
And update on the beauty blender dupe from L'Oreal, LOVEEEEEEE.  I love it.  It's not as dense as other knock offs are, and super easy to hold.  Also, it's only $9, so yeah.  Go get you one.

Cheers to a weekend full of no plans.  Do you have any fun plans this weekend?

Baby K Makes Three | Maternity Session

Y'all, its already February.  But trust, I aint hating it.  Can we just skip to Summer?  At least we're that much closer to Spring Break.  #teacherlife

ICYMI, I shared my G O A L S for this month earlier this week in this post.

You may remember that my best friend is having a baby.  I shared her pregnancy announcement pictures and gender reveal pictures that I took last year.

WELL, baby Kannon is here.  He made his arrival January, and I can't wait to go see his squishy little face.

Seriously, I can hardly believe my best friend is a mom.  We're officially in that stage of our lives -- everyone is getting married or having babies.  And I'm loving it.

Now that baby K is here.  I wanted to share their maternity pictures I took of De and her husband.  I quite love them, and I have a feeling you will too.

We took these pictures back at the beginning of December.  And the mistle toe pictures are seriously so dang cute, and obviously for Christmas cards, BUT too dang cute not to share anyways.

Happy hump day y'all.
