Eat Drink & Be Mary: 2017

Baby T Week 14

Hello Second Trimester.  To be honest I'm not sure if week 13 or 14 is the beginning of this trimester, but either way we made it!  So here this goes...

Due Date | March 25, 2018

Size | Baby T is the size of a twinkie or large lemon -- approx. 3.4 inches and 1.5 oz

Gender | we won't be finding out until November

Symptoms | the heartburn, oh the heartburn.  still nauseas at night or if I get too hungry.

Cravings/Aversions | pretty much all meat sounds gross with the rare occassion of a yummy hamburger or steak.  As far as cravings I'm all about carbs still and Zaxby's white cheddar bites.  Also, I eat cereal and breakfast sandwiches like they're going out of style.

I also had an INTENSE craving for Olive Garden's fettucine alfredo, as in I felt like I could taste it right then and there.

Hormones | the other day we were going through the old wives tales and I asked Thomas if he would say I've been more moody or happy and he said Moody without much there's that ;)

Weight | none so far

Clothing | I have to wear pretty tight clothing for my weekly pictures so you can see the difference each week, and you cant really tell at all in my normal clothes.  So I have a feeling maternity clothes are not in the near future..however my SIL did give me a lot of hers.

Sleep | Getting comfortable is easy, but I love sleeping on my back/belly so that'll all be coming to an end soon.  BUT waking up every 2-3 hours to pee is getting old real quick.

Nursery | I have ideas for boy or girl but nothing will be done until we know the gender for sure.

Purchases | so far the only things we've bought are a pair of moccasins for pictures, curtains for the nursery (regardless of gender) and THE CUTEST elephant paci-plushie.

Fun Fact | Baby T can now smile, frown, squint and suck his/her thumb.

Best Moment of The Week/Looking Foward To | my parents are coming this weekend and I can't wait!

Next Apt. | October 10th

Fall Bucket List

After moving down to the official south, Fall is 100% my favorite season of the year.  And luckily for me, Fall weather truly sticks around from October-December/January.  I'm convinced that 70 degrees is the absolute perfect weather.  Not to mention Fall fashion is my favorite too.

So this year, I want to make sure T and I make the most of our Fall and I've created a Fall to-do list for us to complete.  I'm hoping to accomplish all these things from the end of September through the end of November-ish.

Do any of y'all create bucket lists for this time of year?  What do you and your family do each fall?

+ Create three fall inspired recipes (I'm thinking these three: here, here and here)

+ Wooly Worm Festival & Valle Country Fair

+ Panthers Football Game (although we may go in December)

+ make a bonfire and roast marshmallows

+ carve pumpkins & roast the pumpkin seeds to enjoy

+ start my Christmas shopping (yes, I like to start this early but it also helps to spread it out)

+ snuggle by the fire (we rarely use our fireplace but I hope to a little more this year)

+ go trick-or-treating with our nieces and nephews

+ bake a pumpkin pie (or several) and maybe try an apple pie for the first time

+ watch Hocus Pocus

+ go Black Friday shopping

+ pick out our Christmas tree

+ and of course, drink about 3543 pumpkin spice lattes ;)

Anyone have good recipes for an apple pie (one of the cinnamon side possibly)?  What are you looking forward to this fall?

First Trimester Pregnancy Recap

Y'all I still can't believe that the beans have been spilled.  I've been biting my tongue for so long now it's feels weird to finally be able to talk about it so openly with y'all.

So, since I've been keeping it a secret I thought I'd catch y'all up with a brief little recap of the past couple of weeks.  And of course, to have it all here to look back on one day.

Also, can we talk about how weird pregnancy weeks are?  Some things I read say that week 12 is the end of the 1st trimester and some say week 13.  And then how some months are longer than others?  Idk, it's all so confusing.

So back to all things first trimester...

| Big Events |

Positive Pregnancy Test: July 16 (4 weeks)
First Doctors Apt./Sonogram: August 9 (7 weeks 3 days)
Told our parents: August 11 & 12
Told the great-grandparents-to-be: August 26 & 27
Second Doctors Apt./hearing the heartbeat again: September 12 (12 weeks 2 days)
I told my students yesterday and they were the cutest.  Some of my boys literally couldn't believe it, and a lot of girls were confused because I don't look pregnant yet.  Pretty much all of them wanted to know right away if Baby T is a boy or girl.  One little dude was so excited he gave me a hug and declared he was gonna be an uncle! haha.  And an entire class wants to have a baby shower, and have already started guessing if its a boy or girl.  Ah..six graders, gotta love 'em.
fun fact: the night before I took the pregnancy test I had the most realistic dream that I took the test and it was positive.  When then really psyched me out when I woke up, but obviously it was still positive in real life too. ;)

| Cravings |

Nothing makes me want to throw up necessarily.  But up until about 8 or 9 weeks, nothing sounded good either.  Except carbs.   Carbs are a totally different story.  I'm all about some carbs.

The only real cravings I've had are for french fries dipped in ketchup.

| How I'm Feeling |

Before we even "knew" I was pregnant, I felt like I knew because I had the worst heartburn and sore tatas like I've never had before.  Other symptoms I've had the past couple months are vivid dreams and occasional nausea, which increases if I get really hungry, when I lay down at night, or when I brush my teeth.
And don't even get me started on the exhaustion.  I'm napping everyday after work (and I'm a no nap type of girl) and in bed by 10pm.  And I'm still exhausted by 10 or 11am everyday.  But I hear getting my energy back is on the horizon.
Oh and last thing.  The amount of times I pee in a day is insane.  And night time is even worse.  I'm up 2 or 3 times at night, but again I've heard and am HOPING that'll also go away in the second trimester.

Thomas and I are both still just so so excited that have a little one on the way.  We've talked about having a family for years (even before we were married), and now all our dreams are coming true.

Stay tuned each week for updates, and other non-baby related stuff too.  Now that I'm finally feeling more like myself I plan on hoping right back on the blogging wagon.

Don't forget I'm working on a post to answer all the questions you have about the pregnancy so far, so put your questions in the comments or hit me up on Instagram.

OH BABY, Baby T Arriving 2018!

In case you missed it yesterday...we're having a baby!!  And we are 100% over the moon excited about it.  Baby T will be making his/her arrival in March 2018.  eek!

This hopefully explains my absence on here lately.  One, I haven't been feeling all that great.  And two, it was so hard to come up with things to write about when all  I wanted to do was spill the beans.  For the first four weeks after we found out it was actually really fun to keep the secret between Thomas and I.  And I think it brought us even closer.  But I've loved being able to share with friends and family the past four weeks.  This is such an exciting, new fun season we are in and I'm excited for the adventure ahead.

Later this week I'll be sharing a first trimester recap and a Q&A post with all the deets soooo send all your questions my way and I'll answer them on here shortly.  Happy Wednesday loves.

11 Summer Date Night Ideas

Confession: I hate cooking.  And will do pretty much anything to not cook.

Luckily, for me I found a husband that not only can cook, but who loves to treat me to a date night pretty frequently.  And if you follow me on Instagram you know our idea of a "wild and crazy" Friday night, is picking up Sushi from Kroger or Publix and a movie or TV night.

No joke, we've chosen this over going out to eat in Augusta several times.  Believe it or not, I didn't think I liked Sushi until I met Thomas, and now it's our weekly regular.  Some would say I have an obsession, BUT y'all it's so dang good, affordable and they make it fresh in the store so I'm not worried about how long its been sitting there or any other sketchy business.

And back to that TV night?  We've been obsessively bingeing Arrow on Netflix.  Anyone else?  Now we're only on season 2 so no spoiler alerts, but comment below if you've seen it.  Also, if you're looking for a good couples show on Netflix, I highly suggest it.

And now onto the Summer Date Night ideas, when we wanna take a break from our usual sushi + netflix.

TV Night + Snacks

Sushi + Movie Night In

Drive-in Movie Theater

Pool Day

Picnic at Sunset

Workout together

Bonfire + S'mores

Camping Weekend

Go Fishing

Go to the lake for the day

Cook something together

So what date nights do you enjoy in the Summertime?  Is there a food you used dislike but have grown to love?  What is your current binge-watching show of choice?

Favorite Nude Polishes

A while back, I post my favorite summer polishes.  But to be honest, as much as I love all my bright pinks and corals, I can go for a nude polish any day of the year.  Which inspired me to do this post: a round up of my fave nude polishes.

Hubby for Dessert | Essie

Shell We Dance | Sally Hansen Gel Polish

Taupe-Less Beach | OPI Nail Lacquer

She's My Beauty | Gelish

Twiggy | Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

Master Plan | Essie

Wet Cement | Wet n Wild Megalast

I'm Not a Ballerina | Pretty Woman

And that's it folks.  Just short, sweet and to the point.  BUT don't worry I've got some good meaty posts coming for ya in the near future.  In the mean time leave me a comment of your favorite nude polish in the comments.  And while you're at it, leave your fave polish of all time to.

Happy Friday friends.  XO

Poppyseed Turkey Sliders

Three words.  Poppyseed Turkey Sliders.

Have I mentioned before that, although I must've skipped the cooking gene, the women in my family are amazing in the kitchen.  Well that includes my MIL too.  She first made these sliders (well something pretty dang similar) for the Superbowl and I fell in love -- like pretty much anything she's ever made me.

Y'all these are so dang good to make ahead and reheat for a quick weeknight dinner or lunch leftovers.  Not to mention football season is right around the corner and I can pretty much guarantee they'll be a hit.

I made these this past weekend, stuck them in the fridge and warmed them up in the microwave..y'all they were just as good as the right out of the oven if not better.  And confession: the next day after that I ate them for lunch again and they were EVEN better.  Seriously.

I love a recipe that only gets better with time.  I'm kinda finicky about leftovers so when I find a recipe that I love the next day I'm sold.

Warning this is seriously the easiest.

1 pack of Hawaiian Rolls
1 package of Ham deli meat (I chose to do half the sliders ham and half turkey so I got a package of each)
1/2 lb of white american cheese
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 stick of butter
1 tbsp poppyseeds
2 tsp worcesteshire sauce
1/4 tsp salt, or to taste
1/4 pepper, or to taste

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Slice the entire roll slab in half, do not break each roll apart
3. Line a 9x13 pan with aluminum foil and place the bottom slab of rolls in it.
4. Layer the meat across the bottom half of the rolls.  I did two slices of ham on one half, and two slices of turkey on the other side.
5. Layer cheese across the entire slab.  I chose Great Lakes White American Cheese because it's my fave, but you could do any cheese you like.
6. Add another layer of meat and cheese then add the top slab of the rolls.
7.  In a small bowl, combine the following ingredients: melted butter, dijon mustard, poppy seeds, worcesteshire sauce, salt and pepper.  Mix well.
8. Pour the sauce over the rolls, and spread some on top of the rolls as well.
9. Cover the pan with aluminum foil.
10. Let the rolls sit at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes.
11.  Cook at 350degrees for 15-20 minutes; until the cheese is melted.
12. Uncover the rolls and cook an additional 3-5 minutes.

CONFESSION: I have totally sucked at showing up and posting on here lately.  I know.  I hate it really.  Between family beach trips, friend beach trips and my graduate online class I've just found it hard to balance it all.

So I need two things from y'all.  ONE: what type of giveaway would you like to see in the next couple of weeks?  TWO: what type of posts would you like to see on here?  more recipes, lifestyle, faith?

Until next time, keep up on instagram (and BTS on instastories)

Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip | 21 Day Fix Approved

You know a recipe is good when your husband eats the entire batch in one day.

No lie, y'all.

Are love for buffalo chicken dip is no secret.  In fact, I've shared several recipes - with different twist variations - on this her blog.  See here and here.  Those recipes are tried and true and you seriously can't go wrong with them.

Today's version of our beloved buffalo chicken dip is a healthier, skinny version. that yes is 21 day fix approved.  HOLLA!

The original recipe that for the skinny buffalo chicken dip was shared by Lindsay Ann my beachbody coach.  {she's seriously the bomb y'all} and then I made a couple adjustments -- and jackpot y'all.

2 Cans of Chunk Chicken, 16 oz
3/4 cup Plain Greek Yogurt, fat free (approx. 1.5 of the individual 5.3 yogurts)
1 Greek Yogurt Ranch Packet
1/4 cup Wing Sauce
1/2 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese

+ Shred chicken, and mix chicken and greek yogurt in a crockpot on low, wait 30 minutes.

+ Add wing sauce, shredded cheese, and ranch packet.  Wait 15-20 minutes, until cheese is melted and the dip is completely warmed.

1 Red, 1 Green, 1 Yellow

1. Lindsay Ann's recipe called for 6 chicken breasts, I just prefer the ease of chicken already cooked and chunked

2. Her recipe calls for hot sauce, Thomas just prefers wing sauce.  Also, if you prefer more spicy dips I'd add 1/2 cup.

3. A crockpot just makes this recipe easy and and quick, but you could definitely throw all this together and bake in the over as well.

4. I chose to serve with these Crunchmaster Crackers that Lindsay Ann mentioned in her post, but carrots and celery would also be healthy alternatives.  AND Thomas ate the dip with tostitos chips -- to each their own.

5. Side note: the lemon lemon drink in these pictures is the bomb dot com.

TGIF Friends!  This recipe is PERFECT for the 4th of July -- or like Thomas you can just have it for dinner.  What is your go-to party/holiday healthy or 21 day fix recipe?  Leave the link below so I can start making plans for the 4th.

Oh and while you're reading this I'm back at the beach.  Eek!  Stay caught up on instagram/stories.

Edisto Island '17 | Family Beach Trip Recap

Another beach trip is in the books y'all.

Every year Thomas' family takes a beach trip to Edisto Island.  And can I just say how lucky I got with my inlaws.  Some people dread going on vacation or spending more than a couple days with their inlaws and I just LOVE it.  Not to mention that just means even more time with our sweet 4 nephew and nieces.

This family doesn't take their beach time lightly.  We're usually out on the beach no later than 10:30, come up for lunch, and back at it until 5ish.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Usually our beach time is filled with cornhole and the evenings filled with pictionary, BUT we forgot both this year.  SO instead we tried our hands at boccee ball, sand castle building, hitting a racquet ball back and forth with paddles, and A LOT of reading.

Five years y'all.  I can't believe Thomas invited me to go on a beach trip to meet his family five years ago, and we started dating on that trip as well.  Time flies, amiright?!

And now for the pictures...

Currently I'm..

Drinking: I mentioned in my virtual coffee date, that I"ve given up soda again.  So only coffee and water for this girl.  Which means A LOT of Mio.  Anyone else obsessed with Mio?

Cooking/Baking: We just got back from vacation and I've loved the break from cooking and eating healthy (oops!).  BUT today I'm getting back on track, starting with a Publix run.  My Life Well Loved is always talking about her Publix finds on instastories, and basically convinced me I need to go -- forgoing my usual Walmart Grocery Pick Up.  Anyways lots of fried eggs, chicken recipes, AND a healthier buffalo chicken dip recipe to come.

Wearing: bathing suits and workout clothes.  happy summer y'all.

Feeling: Relaxed -- a week of vacation will do that to ya.{stay tuned for a trip recap on Wednesday}  But I'm motivated and ready to get back on track this week before another long weekend birthday beach trip with my best girls.  ALSO, I have a butt load of classwork to catch up on from being out of town and only a couple of days to do so.  So motivated pretty much HAS to be what I'm feeling.  Send positive vibes my way.  #halp

Buying: I really haven't been buying much lately.  You welcome husband.  BUT I did order more Lipsense lately and just got them in the mail.  Color me obsessed.  Yesterday I wore Kiss for a Cause (see it on my instastories now) and today I'm wearing Praline Rose.  I'm probably going to do a full post on my thoughts on Lipsense soon, BUT what are your favorite shades?

Lipsense -- Kiss for a Cause

Excited About: a long weekend at the beach for my best friends birthday.  all the feels y'all.  I'm too excited.

Pinning: best paint colors for a modern farmhouse | one hour garlic rollsthis quote

Deep Life Quote: Fall in love with somebody who will never let you go to sleep wondering if you still matter.

Thankful For: Summer Break, all my fellow teacher friends can I get an AMEN?  But seriously y'all, Thomas and I were talking about this yesterday and I am just so so thankful for a much needed break in between years of teaching the future of our country. ;)  But really, that's quite the daunting task.  And can I just say I am in total shock that June has all but passed us by already...why does time fly so quickly.

And now that we've caught up a little on what I've been up to this month, let's jump to those goals...

So I never did set June goals last month, so instead I'm switching it up a little and setting some goals for what I want to accomplish over Summer break and will recap at the end of August.  Here we go...

+ order desk for the office

+ organize linen closet

+ re-paint guest bed frame

+ complete & pass summer course work

+ order & install office light

+ clean kitchen cabinets

+ paint outside bench

+ outside plants

AND there you have it.  Here's to hoping EVERYTHING gets crossed off my list by the end of the month.  It's been a while since I did once of these posts...what are you currently up to.  What are your goals this summer?  And just for giggles, let me know how you found this post in the comments -- bloglovin? facebook?  do you purposely come to my blog everyday?

Happy Monday friends.
