Edisto Island '16

Every year Thomas and his family go on a beach trip to Edisto Island, and I've been going for the past four years (minus last year, none of us went, because well wedding madness).  It is the best place for a family beach trip.  It's not touristy, at all.  So quaint, and very family friendly.

We get out there midmorning, come up for lunch, and go back until 5 or 6.  One night this trip, we stayed out on the beach until 8:30.  We cannot get enough of the beach y'all.  Thomas and I are beach bums at heart, and pretty much everyone in his family loves the beach just as much as us.

At night we (and by we I mean not me) cooked different, easy meals, went looking for geotags (anyone else heard of this before), made icecream runs, had cornhold tournaments, went to the sound to go fishing and played pictionary.

Relaxation at it's finest y'all.

And yet when we came back Sunday T and I were exhausted.  I'm pretty sure that had something to do with the cutest niece and nephews that joined us on said trip.  But they're cute, so its okay.

And now for the pictures...

Making Our House a Home: Bathroom Update

The first time Thomas brought me to his late grandparents house (currently our house) the one thing I knew had to change was the paint color in most of the rooms.  Especially this mustard yellow.  I just can't.

[as seen on Instagram]

Now that we're almost 10 months in, Thomas and I have made some legit progress on our 1940's house, and it definitely feels like home.  I'm loving adding personalized touches, and decorating each room.  While most of the rooms are not finished and I'm not ready to share yet, our bathroom is.

Our house has one bathroom.  Yes.  You read that right.  One bathroom.  And it's pretty small, so decorating it was relatively easy, as we just kept it simple.

First things first?  A new paint job.  Painting was the first thing we did (even before I moved in) because it was easier without all the furniture in the way.

Next we switched out the light fixture, added a cute striped shower curtain and bathroom rug.  Oh and did I mention the bathroom didn't even have anything to hold the toilet paper or a hand towel?  So those were installed quickly.  I picked up a floor cabinet for extra storage to go over the toilet (similar here).  Add in some fake flowers, some Etsy prints and I've called it a good thing.

Paint Color : Valspar Polished Silver (Home Depot matched it for us)

Wash Brush Floss Flush Print

Bobby Pins Print

Hallway Light Fixture

I honestly wouldn't mind replacing the cabinet above the toilet, just because it ended up being shorter than I expected, and this summer I need to do a real good cleaning on the panneling (or possibly a new painting job?), and repaint the trim.

And I'm thinking something needs to happen with the window/blinds situation.  Bamboo shades?  A fabric roman shade?  Help me.

I'm hoping to get those tasks done this Summer and move on to our dining room.  And in the mean time don't miss out on the sneak peeks on snapchat (mary_timmerman).

Do you enjoy redecorating the rooms in your house?  Have any suggestions for our bathroom?  Aren't those Etsy prints the cutest?

Ahhh Summer break.  Everything I've been dreaming about for the last 10 months and more.  And now being at the beach with T's family is just the cherry on top, and it's only the third week of break.

Now that is Summer break I'm on the search for some new c u t e summer clothes.  While I'm still searching for flowy, off-the-shoulder tops I have found once again fantastic jeans for summer.

Summer [Beach] Mantle

This gal is beach bound in 3 days y'all.  Three!  Words can't express how happy I this makes me.

If you've missed it before I was born in California.  I'm seriously a beach babe by nature, unfortunately growing up in the mountains was my destiny and I missed out on growing up with the beach at my finger tips.  Not to say I'm not thrilled with how my life ended up, it just means I'll be making up for it by frequenting the beach as much as possible for eternity.  Luckily for me my husband is practically part fish and loves the beach as much as I do.

So onto related news, I've seen to it that in the mean time I've brought a little bit of the beach into our home.  Since our last mantle was from Easter, it was about time to make a change anyways.  And I am loving the beachy feel our house has thanks to the mantle.

I'm looking forward to filling the bottles with sand and seashells from our trip, but other than that I'm tickled with how yet another mantle turned out.

Don't Quit Your Day Dream

Don't Quit Your Daydream c/o Doc Shorty

Happy Hump Day my loves.  Today I'm here to share a couple quick things.  Then I'm off to pack for the beach.  Which I guess could be business item number one: Thomas and I are going to the beach with his family next week and I am so excited.  I swear I was meant to live at the beach.  Luckily, Thomas shares my love and I have a feeling our future will be filled with beach trips.

Number Two : Have you heard of The Home T?  Well they've created a new line.  Doc Shorty.  Same great material (I imagine similar to what cloud 9 actually feels like).  Still giving 10% of the profits to MS research.  Still made in the USA.  But they created this new line to inspire people and make them happy.
Don't Quit Your Daydream does just that.  I mean a little inspiration on one heck of a soft tee and I'm sold.

Number three : About that daydream talk.  It's made me start to consider what my daydream is?  Don't get me wrong I love teaching, but I am loving this Summer break to explore all of the hobbies I enjoy and pick up new ones.  I'm imagining a Summer filled with finally figuring out how to work my DSLR in complete manual.  (any tips...please, please!)  Redecorating our dining room.  And playing around and making different little projects with my cricut -- eek!

And that's all I have for this random filled Wednesday.  I'm off to the dentist (yuck!), and hopefully getting a good workout in (beach bound rememember!).  Have you ever tried a Doc Shorty tee?  What is your daydream?

Red White and Blue Sangria

You may have seen on Snapchat (mary_timmerman), that my best friend came and visited for the weekend.  Y'all there is absolutely nothing that a weekend spent with your best friend, sun, and sangria can't fix.

I can't believe the weekend has already come and gone, but the good news we already have beach plans for July.  A whole week of being in the same place as my best friend.  I can't hardly wait!

But back to that Sangria...

We originally planned on making this Sparkling Patriotic Sangria from Gimme Some Oven.  However, we weren't feeling the apples, and made a couple other adjustments as well.

And all were in agreement that it was one very delicious, red white[ish] and blue sangria.  Perfect for a lazy day by the pool, celebrating any patriotic holiday or spending time with your best gal friend.

Ingredients:
2 Cups of Apple Juice
1 Bottle of Moscato
1 Bottle of Bubbly Pink Moscato
2 Bottles of Dry Champagne
1 Pint Blueberries
1 Container Raspberries *see below*
1 Pound Strawberries

Instructions:
Wash fruit, then hull and slice strawberries.  In a pitcher, combine all of the ingredients and chill for at least 1 hour.

Boom.  It's that easy y'all.  I'll have to admit, before the first time that I made Sangria I always thought it was a lot harder than it actually is.  I mean, slice fruit and pour bottles of wine and juice in a pitcher?  Does it get any easier?

Also, we used raspberries because the original recipe {linked above} called for it, but we all agreed we would definitely do without the next time...that is unless you are a big raspberry fan.  They became soggy very quickly, and you still get the red with the strawberries.

Now that's two things off my Summer bucket list {the first?  finally picked a new paint color for our dining room -- eek!}.  What should I tackle next?

What is your favorite Sangria recipe? (We need a new one to try on our beach trip)  What is your favorite red, white and blue recipe?  Happy Summer y'all.

ps. my NEW bar cart {as you may have seen on snapchat} is currently on sale at Target for $64.  Run don't walk.

Well Dressed + Donut Obsessed

jeans | macys

Happy Thursday y'all.  I don't know about y'all but I've been loving and soaking up every minute of this first week of Summer break.  And it's about time for a little coffee date to catch up...shall we?

First we'd meet at Dunkin Donuts (y'all know I run on DD) because right now between 2-6 you can get an iced medium coffee for 99 cents.  And you just can't beat that.  I'd be drinking a iced butter pecan because last time I went there I saw that was their latest flavor and it sounds so intriguing.

Then we'd sit down and I'd start chatting your head off.

First up?  I'd let you know that along with our dining room project, I've decided that I am going to come up with a cleaning project for each day.  #goals  I've already cleaned out our pantry, who knows what is next.

Then I'd ask if you saw my snapchat story the other day (mary_timmerman).  I mentioned on their about trying to get my run in in the mornings now that the high for each day is in the 90s and doesn't cool down until right before dark.  I'd ask you for your tips on how to get motivated first thing in the AM.  And probably let you know that if you're not following me on snapchat then you're going to miss today's giveaway exclusively on snapchat.

And speaking of scorching hot temperatures, I'd tell you that this weekend it's supposed to get to 100 degrees.  What the what?!  How does one survive these temperatures...how!

Lastly, as I am slurping down my last bit of iced coffee I'd squeal with excitement when telling you that my best friend is coming to visit this weekend.  Hello girl's weekend, sangria, pedicures and a whole lot of melting in said sun.

Oh and as for the donut shirt (o b s e s s e d), that I'd obviously be wearing on our donut coffee date...$10 on Groopdealz.  Y'all, seriously.  All the heart eyes.  I'm such a sucker for graphic tees right now (I know,  I know, it's like I've been living under a rock until now) and it is such a soft tee.

Then realizing iced slurped down my entire iced coffee and donut (hey, I said I've been running lately), I'd realized I haven't let you get a word in.  And I'd ask you to update me on your life.  So do spill the beans...

What would your coffee date order be?  Do you have any workout motivation tips?  Are we friends on Snapchat?  What are you looking forward to this weekend?
{keep up on insta + snapchat}

don't miss out on that giveaway -- add me on snapchat and keep your eyes peeled for the giveaway info!
