The first time Thomas brought me to his late grandparents house (currently our house) the one thing I knew had to change was the paint color in most of the rooms. Especially this mustard yellow. I just can't.
it's amazing what a little paint, a new light fixture and refinishing the floors can do for a space 😍🎨👌 • • • • • • • #makingourhouseahome #hallway #ignorethepoorquality #beforeandafter #homedecor #hobbylobby #abmathome #abmlifeiscolorful #photosinbetween #mattiesmakings #thehappynow #lovelysquares #lifestyleblogger #marriedlife #flashesofdelight #scblogger #letsbelivin

Now that we're almost 10 months in, Thomas and I have made some legit progress on our 1940's house, and it definitely feels like home. I'm loving adding personalized touches, and decorating each room. While most of the rooms are not finished and I'm not ready to share yet, our bathroom is.
Our house has one bathroom. Yes. You read that right. One bathroom. And it's pretty small, so decorating it was relatively easy, as we just kept it simple.
First things first? A new paint job. Painting was the first thing we did (even before I moved in) because it was easier without all the furniture in the way.
Next we switched out the light fixture, added a cute striped shower curtain and bathroom rug. Oh and did I mention the bathroom didn't even have anything to hold the toilet paper or a hand towel? So those were installed quickly. I picked up a floor cabinet for extra storage to go over the toilet (similar here). Add in some fake flowers, some Etsy prints and I've called it a good thing.

I honestly wouldn't mind replacing the cabinet above the toilet, just because it ended up being shorter than I expected, and this summer I need to do a real good cleaning on the panneling (or possibly a new painting job?), and repaint the trim.
And I'm thinking something needs to happen with the window/blinds situation. Bamboo shades? A fabric roman shade? Help me.
I'm hoping to get those tasks done this Summer and move on to our dining room. And in the mean time don't miss out on the sneak peeks on snapchat (mary_timmerman).
Do you enjoy redecorating the rooms in your house? Have any suggestions for our bathroom? Aren't those Etsy prints the cutest?
