Eat Drink & Be Mary: Timmerman Party of 2: The Toasts

Timmerman Party of 2: The Toasts

After our first dance and the father daughter/mother son dance we played the shoe game (highly recommended, but more to come on that later) and then we all sat down to eat.  I think.  In fact, I'm not even 100% sure of the order of events during our reception because everything is such a blur, but I'm pretty positive that right before we all got food my MOH and Thomas' dad (his best man) gave their toasts.

I know I'm biased, but they were the best speeches.  I teared up during both, and they both lost it while giving them as well.  I loved Care's speech so much I had her send it to me and it's saved on my computer (and is at the bottom of this post).  It was funny and sweet, seriously could not have been more perfect.

trying to hold it together

I'm pretty sure this is when she referenced our future ginger babies.

about to lose it

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Carolyn. I am the Maid of Honor
and one of Mary’s best friends. I want to start off by saying that every once in a
while, two people meet, and you know it’s meant to be. You know instantly that the stars have aligned, and their paths would bring them together regardless what they world may throw their way. This was clearly the case over 10 years ago, when Mary
and I first met.

Mary, we may not have been childhood friends. We never played dress up or imaged what our weddings would be like as little girls, but none of that matters because I feel like I have known you my whole life.  Plus, thanks to Pinterest, we didn’t need to plan our dream weddings as little girls, but rather as high school bffs. We know more about each other than we probably care to, and that’s because we can share anything without passing judgment. We have laughed together, we have cried together, and we have inside jokes that only we would find funny.

Mams, you are the best friend a girl could ever ask for. You have always been there
for me, and I will always be there for you. I don’t know where I would be without my best friend, but I do know that standing here today on your wedding day is exactly where I’m supposed to be.
After getting to spend time with the both Mary and Thomas on our first couple’s
retreat, I could see that their relationship was more than just a casual thing. I could
tell that there was something special there, something that we all want to find for ourselves – true love.  I know you both will make each other very happy and have a lifetime of love! Plus, ya’ll will make some adorable ginger babies.

So if everyone could please raise their glass, I’d like to propose a toast to the new Mr. and Mrs. Timmerman: here’s to love, laughter, and happily ever after!
