Y'all, I'm not gonna lie. 2015 was a hard year to top. We were finally able to kick our long distance relationship to the curb and move in together when I moved to SC, because hello we got married!
BUT, spending our first year of marriage together has been priceless. I love living with my best friend, it's simply the best. So other than simply doing life together for the past year, here are some more highlights from our 2016 | Year in Review...
My mom visited for the new year, we had bonfires, we visited my SIL in Charlotte, I bought myself a fitbit and became obsessed with getting my steps in each day -- speaking of, I should probably find that sucker before the 2nd. We had our first and only snowfall, and by snowfall I mean it flurried for two hours and melted in a blink of an eye, since I'd moved to SC. And I traveled to Boone for my mom and brothers' birthdays.
Thomas finally covered up the hideous yellow flower (seen here) that was above our mantle, and I became obsessed with taking pictures of my morning coffee in front of it. The Panthers made it to the Super Bowl (and it's all been down hill since them, amiright?). We spent Valentines Day together, will all the sushi a girl could ask for and a date to Airstrike (a trampoline park).
We spent many date nights at Sakura (still our favorite restaurant to date). We bought our first live plant (I'm a tried and true fake plant kinda girl), and if you're wondering, yes it's already dead. I started working in the guest room, and created another gallery wall (see the first one here) in our future office (see the plans I have here). And my parents and nephews came up to celebrate Easter and Steeple Chase Weekend.
Last month, I bought my Nook and I'm pretty sure all of April I spent reading. Coolest invention ever, well maybe not ever.Thomas and I went to NC to visit my family, we went back to our college town to visit friends, Thomas came to my class to talk about being a firefighter and emergency management, we went to the lake, and watched our nephew's tee ball games.
I made teacher appreciation gifts for faculty at my school (my 6th grade team, custodians, front office), we traveled to NC for my Grandaddy's 80th birthday, Thomas' family went camping at the lake, I made a legit Snickers Muddy Buddy recipe, and I started working on our dining room transformation.
I completed my first full year of teaching 6th grade (what!!!), I started picking paint colors for the dining room, and Thomas played in a firefighters vs police officers softball game for charity. Care came to visit -- we sunbathed by the pool, made an amazingly patriotic sangria, and we crafted with the help of my handy dandy cricut. I discovered Yeti's are really worth all they're cracked up to be (and have since learned that most of the other brands that have been coming out are just as legit), my ---*SIL announced she was having another kid, and we went on our annual Timmerman family beach trip.
The dining room painting continued, and we celebrated July 4th my T's family and my parents came down too. Care, Shel and I went to the beach, and I had my first wine and design experience (loved it!). I then had my wisdom teeth removed and was on the couch for a solid week rockin' the chipmunk cheeks. I crafted some more (with the help of the Cricut) and Thomas turned 26 (!), and Care and I took a second trip to the beach.
Thomas and I celebrated our one year anniversary. And for our anniversary we got my engagement ring and wedding band . T and I went to NC to visit one last time before school started back. I started my second year teaching 6th grade, fell in love with LipSense, and took my best friends pregnancy announcement and gender reveal pictures.
We took a trip to Florida with Thomas' college roommate and they played in a softball tournament. And my best friend, Care, visited again because when you live 3 hours apart you can never visit enough.
I turned 25 and celebrated with 5 pairs of new shoes, we bought a shed (because this little ole house has no storage space what-so-ever), my parents came down to celebrate my birthday, and we missed 3 days of school that same week due to Hurricane Matthew, we went and explored downtown Augusta, Thomas shot his first deer of the season (and last season, yikes), and I went up to NC to visit family. While up there we went to the Woolly Worm Festival and Valle Country Fair. In October I also went to Asheville to visit my college roommate, and Thomas and I went to the Aiken County Fair. And at the very end of the month I went back to NC (again, making it the third time this month) to celebrate with my best friend at her baby shower -- eek!
Bring on all the Christmas shopping (mainly online though), and family time with the start of the holiday season. I bought way too many liquid lipsticks, we took our fall family pictures (and used them for Christmas Cards), and I decorated for Christmas -- literally the first day of the month. And my SIL had her baby shower for her little girl. We traveled up to NC for Thanksgiving, and got our Christmas tree. Then traveled back to SC for a second Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping.
We crammed the first couple weeks with Christmas movies, baking and wrapping presents. I made it through the first semester and couldn't be happier to be on Christmas break to rejuvenate for another semester ahead. We got our sweet (totally spoiled) black lab, Remi. I went to NC to visit my family. Our niece was born and had to spend 10 long days in the NICU before getting to come home Christmas day. Hello, Christmas miracle. Now for the last couple days of resting, netflix binging (Gilmore Girls, of course), and preparing for a fresh new start ahead. Oh, and my parents are coming to visit to ring in the new year.
