I know, I know I'm pretty much a broken record when it comes to talking about long distance relationships BUT it's pretty much all you think about when you're in one.  Lucky for us all, this long distance relationship's end date is just around the corner.  The countdown is on & then we can all say a peace out to this distance thing.
But that's not without one last LDR post.  And it's totally doable to turn this into a normal date night gift.

You see when you're miles away from someone its important to remind them how much they mean to you because you're not there to show them.  It's easy to do in person with a quick kiss on the forehead or saying "I love you" before leaving for work.  But obviously that's not quite doable in our situation.
Thank God for LDR date nights.  Yes, a date night while miles away.  It's good for the soul, trust me.  And now your partner doesn't have to put in any effort.  Introducing my Long Distance Relationship Date Night Care Package: Movie Night.

This year the Share A Coke campaign is bigger than ever with 1000 names printed on the bottles, available at Walmart.  "Thomas" and "Mary" are pretty common names and were pretty easy to find.  But unlike before, with 1000 names out there, there is a wide variety of more unique names available (find your name here).  Not to mention REESE'S joining in on the fun adding words like "My Fave" and "BFF" to their peanut butter cups is just a cherry on top when it came to putting this care package together.

How To: Date Night Care Package
1. Add contents:
  • Share A Coke 20oz personalized bottles --  with your other half's name on it, an easy way to personalize your package & who doesn't love finding their names on these Cocoa Cola bottles?!
  • REESE'S peanut butter cups with fun words -- apparently they've jumped on the bandwagon and have started sharing messages on their cups.  And if Thomas didn't love candy before (read; chocoholic) then these "BFF" and "My Fave" messages are sure to brighten his day.

  • A Movie, take all the work out of it for your man and choose the movie for him.  I went with movies that are our tried and true picks (avoiding a good ole chick flick for his sake), and sending two gives him the option for a choice.  You could always do a Redbox, but that'd just be nuts to send it in the care package.
  • Popcorn, we can't do movies without popcorn.  And we can't do popcorn without Coke.  Which brings me back to adding another Coke for good measure..and this time my name (because I seriously don't know how you resist buying one with your name on it..I just can't).
  • A note with your plans for the date night & to remind them you love them. :)
2: Write a note with instructions, day & time for the date night, anything else you wanna add.

3: Have your date night & keep touch throughout the movie..Cocoa Cola & popcorn in your lap.

if you want everything to stay put together and look a little cuter package it in a bag inside the box

I chose to go to Walmart when putting together this care package for a couple of reasons:

1. It's Walmart...Walmart has everything, duh.

2. Walmart has one of the most organized displays for the Cocoa Cola personalized 20 oz. bottles, making it easier to find our names.

3. I heard they were selling the REESE'S with messages on them as well.  Go big or go home right?

4. You can only get these REESE'S peanut butter cups with fun words at Walmart.

5. I was already at Walmart, read #1.

This care package is all about you taking the date night plans off of your man and taking control for the night.  Making it easy on him because if you're anything like T and I; then he's always planning the dates.

But it's also important to make putting the care package together easy on yourself.  With Walmart's Share A Coke and REESE'S displays convinetly located at the front of the store it makes the Coke and REESE'S extra easy to find.  A date night should be fun, NOT complicated.  The ease of finding your care package items is key here.

So tell me how you and your man stay connected miles away, do you have LDR date nights?
Are you addicted to buying these Share a Coke personalized bottles?
What movie would you choose for your date night?

  1. I remember when my husband and I were LD for 2 years! It was super lame, but I wish I would have thought of this adorable care package idea! So sweet! Hope your man enjoyed it! (:

  2. This is such a cute idea!! Luckily my husband and I were only long distance for about 6-7 months. Our schedules were rather complicated. I was working 3 jobs, 6 day a week so I could save up the money to move in with him and he's in the military and worked 15 hour night shifts. We had days where he was getting out of work and going to bed as I was waking up to start my day haha So long distance date nights just weren't doable most of the time.

  3. This care package is so sweet and thoughtful! Unfortunately I don't think I will ever find a coke with my name of it. It's definitely not common enough!

  4. Awww, this is such a cute idea! Plus, doesn't everyone love getting mail, LDR or not?!

  5. This is a really cute idea! Love it!

As a gal who used to be in a long distance relationship too - this is adorable and perfect!!

  7. #1 find myself a boyfriend
    #2 show him this post
#3 even if he lives down the street

  8. My husband and I were never in a LDR, but with three young kids sometimes we are like ships passing in the night and we miss out on date nights. I think I'm going to put together a date night kit with movies, popcorn and Cokes like your care package so that, when we actually do have an hour or two to spend together after the kids to go bed, we can just grab it and start our date! Thanks for the idea! #client

  9. I agree! This is a fantastic idea for people that are just flat out busy. Having something ready to go could be the key to still getting in a date night every once in a while. Not to mention it would still make a cute gift!

  10. Haha, Stephanie your comment just cracks me up. This is definitely a good idea even if you're not in a LDR. As (the other) Stephanie mentioned above, sometimes it's just easier to have the date night set up and ready to go when you are.

  11. I'm glad you like it Christina! We had several long distance date nights, and they really did help us feel more connected even while miles away. But I can't wait to have normal date nights again. ;)

  12. Thanks Kelsey. This date night is pretty much composed of our favorite things -- movies, coke and popcorn..haha.

  13. Agreed, getting mail is the best! During all of this wedding planning I've been receiving SO much mail, and I know it's be slightly depressing when I move and am not getting as much anymore. :(

  14. Did you search your name using the link above? I have to admit I've seen some pretty unique names out there, and there's totally a chance your name is out there. I have one of the top 10 names out there, and it still took me a while to find mine. Haha.

  15. It's not everyones cup of tea, but I definitely suggest it to those who can find time. Luckily, you don't have to worry about it too much anymore. ;)

  16. We have been in one for almost 2 years, and yes totally lame! :) Date nights were actually his idea, such a sweetie, but I get to take credit for this pretty good (if I say so myself) idea.

It makes me so happy each time you leave a comment. I love connecting with my readers! Happy blogging friends.
