Eat Drink & Be Mary: Asking our Flower Girl + Ring Bearer

Asking our Flower Girl + Ring Bearer

Another Wedding Wednesday, and if I'm being completely honest this is my favorite day of the week lately.  I get giddy every Wednesday to check out all the other wedding posts and just bask in the wedding glory that is surrounding me.  Is this real life?

Asking our friends and family to be apart of our special day was something I looked forward to right away.  It means so much to T and I for our bridal party to support and love us during the stressful process of wedding planning all the way until we say "I do."

So I figured we oughta start with the cutest attendants first.  The mini-humans.  Our flower girl and ring bearer.

Our flower girl is Thomas' niece, Hanna.  She will be 3 1/2 at our wedding and will be the cutest thing.  Not to mention she is insisting on wearing a green dress.  The ring bearer is Thomas' nephew, Hunter.  He'll be 6 1/2 at our wedding and is super pumped to carry our rings.

I knew I wanted to ask H & H in a way that was cute but something that they'd enjoy.  I had remembered seeing the "popping the question to a bridesmaid with a ring pop" idea on Pinterest.  And who loves ring pops more than a bridesmaid-to-be...kids!  Don't worry we warned the mom beforehand.

Boxes - .99 @ Michaels \ Glitter Foam Adhesive - $1 @ Michaels \ index cards to write message on \ Ring Pops - 2/$1 Walmart \ Tissue Paper & Sharpie --totaling coming in under $5 for a ridiculously cute way to ask the little ones.

The kids were so darn cute when we asked them to be our flower girl/ring bearer.  I am kicking myself for not taking a video, but I can still picture it so clearly in my head.  Their mom (my bridesmaid + Thomas' sister) read their messages to them, and explained what that meant.  Of course both kids said yes, but who wouldn't when asked with a ring pop?  ;)

And thanks to Heather @ The Sweet Briar Collection etsy shop, I got my flower girl a hanger to hold her dress on the big day.  I literally squealed when I got it in the mail.  It is perfectly sized to hold a little flower girl dress, will keep the dress wrinkle free + is the cutest keepsake.  Our little flower girl will be fitting right in with the rest of us (more on our hangers later) with this personalized, wire hanger.

And just because we're on the subject of this sweet girl, Heather is so incredibly talented.  Not only did she make this "flower girl" hanger for me but she also makes bridal hangers, cake toppers,

Now let's just hope we can convince our flower girl to wear something other than a green dress. ;)

How did you ask your flower girl & ring bearer?  Do you have any ideas of gifts we can give our two mini-attendants on our wedding day that they will actually use and love?  Happy hump day.

  3. This is the CUTEST thing ever!! I wish Pinterest had been around about 9-10 years ago, but maybe too I don't....haha; not sure I would have ever been able to choose/decide about anything. This is great!

  4. These are super cute! I love ring pops! We asked our RB and FG with some sweets and a book that told them all the cool things about their new job. They were both around 2 years old so they didn't really comprehend what they were being asked to do, but their parents both said they did like reading the book.

  9. I love ring pops too (#grownupbutnot). A book is a great idea; any chance you remember where you got them from? Our flower girl was about 2 1/2 when we asked her and she's sorta clueless but pumped about a pretty dress and petals haha. Apparently they both talk about our wedding all the time now. :)

  10. Pinterest can be a good and a bad thing, haha. So far I like getting ideas from it and then just doing my own takes from there..so it's a pretty good system. It can definitely get overwhelming though.

  14. The books were called 10 Neat/Cool Things about Being a Flower Girl/ Ring Bearer. I think I found them on amazon. Here is the link to the recap post I did about asking our bridal party. It has photos of the books at the end. http://alhadventures.blogspot.com/2015/01/marriedmaitlands-asking-our-bridal-party.html

Adorable! One of my favorite parts was asking people to be in the wedding to; it's so fun to be creative! We asked our little ones with customized teddy bears - the shirts had flower girl and their name/ring bearer and the name! Such a fun step!
