Eat Drink & Be Mary: 10 (more) Verses on Anxiety [giveaway]

10 (more) Verses on Anxiety [giveaway]

Almost a year ago I wrote this post, sharing all that was causing me anxiety.  I felt stuck in-between life stages and didn't know what to do.  But I was also learning a very valuable lesson on listening to God, on trusting in His plan + not worrying, on Letting Go and Letting God.

A year later, and all my answers have been answered.  Some big changes are in store in the next five months.  Changes that could bring on a whole new set of worries and anxious feelings.

I could feel anxious about moving states.  Moving to a town where I only know T and his family.

could feel anxious about finding a new job for the fall.

could feel stressed getting caught up in all the wedding planning in these next five months.

could worry how I'll deal with all of these new changes...

BUT instead I'm trusting in God.  Last year I said I was going to Let Go and Let God, and look where it lead me.  He took care of all my worries, I have a job this year, and Thomas and I's long distance relationship has an official countdown.  God is GOOD y'all!

And judging by the emails I still to this day get about my 22 verses on Anxiety and Stress post; I'm not the only one who needs a reminder to lean on God.  He has a plan and it is for our good.

So today I'm sharing a couple more verses on anxiety, stress and worry.  Stay tuned for a treat at the end!

Psalm 56:3 | When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 | Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way.  The Lord be with all of you.

Psalm 55:22 | Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

John 16:33 | I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Psalm 4:3 | Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

Joshua 1:9 | "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Psalm 143:8 | Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Isaiah 12:2 | "Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the Lord God is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation."

Psalm 46:1 | God is our refuge and strength, and ever-present help in trouble.

Matthew 6:25-26 |  "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

  10. I actually have an anxiety app on my phone that I pull up when anxiety is really getting to me! It's about 20 minutes of guided mediation, and almost always does the trick!

  14. Wow. I absolutely LOVE this post, Mary. I could've used this soooo many times in the past, and I'm sure I'll have good use for it in the future, too! Sharing this all across social media and using it in this month's Links I Love, because it's really a must read for anyone. Faith is what can get us through ANY situation!
When I'm feeling anxious, I'm usually totally frazzled. Sometimes it helps to just think "Be still and know that I am God." Powerful and true.

  16. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ NLT) I know the verse itslef says nothing of stress and anxiety but this verse, this very first verse in the Bible brings me so much comfort. God always was, and always will be. And when I kinda "zoom out" to the bigger picture I find so much comfort in knowing the Creator of all things is also alive in me. I Am always instantly comforted when I read this verse.

  20. Allison, I hadn't thought of Genesis 1:1 that way, but THANK YOU so much for sharing that with me. You're so right. He created us all, and He is in control.

  22. Erica, I'm so glad. I also shared a post a while ago (last May) that you may also enjoy. Thanks so much for sharing; I believe that many people could benefit from these verses if they can just get access to them.

That's a very powerful phrase, very true. I always try to remember that it's part of His plan, and worrying doesn't do any good to change anything.

  23. I love this. It's reassuring and calming. Sometimes we just need a reminder of God's love and commitment to us.

  24. I'm so glad you find me. I always think that if these verses could reach enough people the ones that need to read them will get a chance to read them and feel comforted. God is almighty and His love is amazing. We just have to trust in Him.

  26. I'm so glad you found me then, and are getting to see today's post as well, Olivia. It's the simplest message that is so very helpful. Having this list of verses to rely on is really helpful for me, and I hope it is for others as well.

  27. Me too, Amanda. It's so simple but can be life changing if you commit to it. I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

  28. Well I'm glad you found this post then Heather. It's really helpful for me to have all these verses compiled in a list for me to refer too, and the post I wrote last May has even more verses you may find comfort in.

  30. I'm a worrier as well Julia. But knowing God has it all under control is so reassuring, and being able to turn to these verses is essential for me. I like 2 Tim. as well.

  33. I really needed this today. In three weeks, I will be moving to a town where a know my boyfriend, his family, and a handful of his friends. I am really started to get anxious and nervous over the move, especially with the more packing we do. I will be saving this post to remind myself to trust in what God has in stores. Thank you.

My favorite verse to turn to is 1 John 4:10 - This is love; not that we love God, but God loves us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

    It helps!
