Eat Drink & Be Mary: Red Velvet Oreo Truffles

Red Velvet Oreo Truffles

Oreo Balls (commonly referred to as truffles when trying to sound fancy) are one of my favorite things to make.  They are no-bake, and only have 4 ingredients; so they're easy to whip up in a jiff.  And of course they never last long at my house.  In fact, they're a total hit everywhere I take them!

In the name of all things pink, red, and lovey dovey I've whipped up a Valentine's day version.  Red Velvet Oreo Truffles (because Valentine's is an occassion to make them sound fancy;) ).

Try these for your sweetie or best gal friends, no doubt they'll fall head over heels for them.

You just can't go wrong with sprinkles, ever.  Not to mention anything bit size is guaranteed to disappear twice as quickly.

+ Pack of Red Velvet Oreos (approx. 36 cookies)
+ 2 8oz packages Cream Cheese
+ Candiquik (chocolate or almond/vanilla)
+ Sprinkles, optional

+ Put Oreos in a food processor until crushed completely.  (or hit with a wooden spoon in a close ziploc bag)
+ Mix together with softened cream cheese.
+ Roll mixture into balls, and place on a cookie sheet covered in parchement paper.
+ Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hours, or in the freezer for 30 minutes.
+ Melt Candiquik according to directions on package.
+ Dip truffles in candiquik, cover completely.  Scoop up with a fork, and bang against the edge of the bowl to drip off excess chocolate.
+ Place back onto cookie sheet, and let it cool and set completely.

Not a fan of Oreos? shame on you! Check out Jillian's recipe for a red velvet truffle using a different cookie.  She has loads of drool worthy recipes, for Valentines and other occasions too.
