Well I started out this post with Last Minute Gifts in mind. But to be honest, I just couldn't focus on the post. You see I've been bit by the wedding bug. It's official, I have wedding fever. And I finally get to do something about it.
If you didn't hear, two weeks ago I got engaged to the man of my dreams. Seriously y'all, he's been a peach through this whole process. Now I know you may be thinking it's only been two weeks. But a lot can go on in two weeks.
Eek! Still doesn't feel real!
I've already cried. I feel stressed and behind where I should be in all the planning. And there is SO much to do!
But my sweet fiance has been there supporting me and reminding me it's not worth stressing over. Always responding with "whatever will make you happy" or "is it everything you want" and so much more, especially when I'm already upset.
He's right, (as I said on Instagram) its the marriage not the wedding. And as if I didn't already know before now, I'm so blessed to be marrying this man; life with him makes perfect sense. I always knew it was him, but what I didn't know was planning our wedding would make me fall even more in love with him.
All this to say, sorry I'm not sorry for blowing up everyone's Pinterest feed, and to show you my wedding board of ideas...
Can y'all believe that Christmas is only EIGHT days away? I still have presents to buy for goodness sake. And of course there is always more wrapping to do, and treats to bake. Speaking of baking, did y'all catch my easy Christmas cookie recipe earlier this week. It's a gold mine y'all.
But back to the holly, jolliest time of the year. Christmas. There is just so much hustle, bustle, sprinkling and glitter everywhere this time of year; I wish I could soak it all up and make it last year round. So I'm here to help you get dressed for all those parties that are sure to come.
Last week I shared my dressy option; today we're going casual.
This scarf is even softer than it looks, believe it or not, it's like living on cloud 9. Obsessed. And paired with this cardigan (elbow patches included)? Oh my heart skips a beat.
Already have your Christmas outfit planned? Kudos to you; now treat yourself with this scarf. You'll be living in it all winter...trust me.
What are you planning to wear this Christmas? Have you bought all your Christmas presents yet? Are you scarf obsessed like myself?
hi i'm lauren! i blog at Lot 48!! the goal of my blog is to inspire and entertain!! i love to write about movies and television and who would play me in a movie and the anatomy of a tv show! i am a newlywed (just celebrated 9 months!) and am still in that newlywed bubble, even if my wedding day didn't go perfectly. i may be a little bit obsessed with my nieces and nephews and am a social media manager by day for an online university! i'm happy to be here on mary's blog!
Lauren is quite the find here in blogland y'all. And I'm not just saying that. This Christmas season she's reminded us of the REAL reason for the season with her uniqueholiday gift guide. She can teach us all a thing or too, like why we should all be using Google+. And she can laugh at herself, now who doesn't love that? I'm tell you, she's a real gem.
Go say hey to Lauren, and wish her a Merry Christmas. And then be prepared to spend lots of time browsing her blog...don't say I didn't warn you. ;)
Welcome to a new week of Delicious Dish Tuesday, where we share our recipes and ask you to share YOUR awesome recipes with us! Last week we had some delicious looking recipes shared, I love finding all these new recipes to add to my "to-do" list. This past week my favorite recipe was shared by Kaylin @ Enticing Healthy Eating.
When I think of getting in the Christmas spirit, I think of baking. Specifically cookies. My grandparents make the most delicious Ricotta Cookies, and today I'm here to share them with you. And as you've learned in the past (here and here), everything my grandparents make is practically a slice of heaven. You can thank me them later. ;)
what you'll need:(makes 3-4 dozen)
1 C Butter, softened
2 C Granulated Sugar
1 (15 oz) container of Ricotta Cheese
3 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Baking Soda
4 C All-Purpose Flour
Glaze (powered sugar + milk)
what to do:
preheat oven 350 F
Mix all of the ingredients above (butter, sugar, ricotta cheese, vanilla, salt, baking soda and flour) well. Scoop the cookies (teaspoon size) onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake for 11-13 minutes at 350F. Transfer to a cooling rack and let the cookies cool completely. Optional: Once cooled, dip the cookies into your glaze (using powered sugar and milk) and add sprinkles.
There you have it the easiest Christmas cookie recipe there ever was.
What is your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? What is one of your Christmas traditions?
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPS for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
You may remember a couple weeks ago I shared about giving back around the holidays. How it's easy to forget that the holidays is about more than presents under the tree. To remember those who aren't as fortunate. And to not take for granted those who sacrifice not only for our country but spending time with their own families around the holidays, too.
Why am I telling you this? Because I have a wish this year. A big wish, but a dream come true if it could happened; even in the smallest way.
My wish is that we could send care packages to the men and women that are overseas this holiday season that will miss out on sharing the holiday with their families. That they will get a taste of home in these boxes, and that they will be reminded that we are thinking of them. That we are thankful for their sacrifice of selflessness because we know without them, we may not be able to spend this time with our families. And that is the greatest gift of all.
While this wish may not be attainable by one person alone, there are several organizations that assist in making this dream come true. If you would like to join me in bringing a slice of home to the soldiers overseas this year I urge you to check out the site above to see how you can help.
One way you can give back? The UPS Wishes Delivered Campaign is donating $1 to one of their charity partners for every wish submitted (up to $100K total donations). I'll be submitting my wish on their site, and you can to (it's really easy!).
How to Submit a Wish: Post your wish to Twitter or Instagram with the campaign hashtag #WishesDelivered and it will automatically be submitted. Another option is to go direct to the #WishesDelivered site and manually submit there. Things to remember when submitting your wish:
+ it needs to be a sincere wish, not a superficial one (no wishes for a years supply of Starbucks y'all)
+ the wish needs to be for someone else, not yourself
+ include the hashtag #wishesdelivered with your wish (on twitter or instagram)
One wish that has been fulfilled? Making this little man's day.
I'm not going to lie I totally teared up while watching this video (so go grab yourself a box of tissues). It's amazing to see the way people are giving back. Check out how the UPS #wishesdelivered campaign made Carson the happiest little four year old boy by watching the video. Seriously, worlds cutest little driver.
I hope this post has inspired you to give back to the families of those who serve this season, and anyone in need. How do you plan to give back this year? What’s your wish?
I'm one of those people that loves picking out gifts for others. It's so much fun filling a package and sending off to someone knowing it'll bring a smile to their face. And I also love getting packages in the mail (but who doesn't). So when I recently signed up for some swaps around Christmas time I was so giddy to start picking out their gifts.
First up was the Color Swap by Two Miracles, I was paired with Sarah @ Joyfully Organized. Sarah is seriously sweet, and I had SO much fun picking out for her gifts. Her favorite color was pink and she loves monograms. I mean really, she's a gift after my own heart. I choose gold, and Sarah really out did herself with my package. I'm gold, sparkly heaven! Just look for yourself...
I know you're not supposed to pick favorites, buttt this garland is adorable and I can't wait to hang it up!
To see what I sent Sarah [in all it's pink-y glory] check out her post. Plus she's sharing Gift Swap Tips for any of you that are thinking about joining one in the future.
I also recently participated in The Great Christmas Exchange through Elah Tree. This exchange was Secret Santa style (one of my favorite traditions around the holidays), and done through Elfster. So I was ecstatic to find out that Anne @ Love the Here and Now drew my name.
I'm now the proud owner of Essie nail polish + the worlds cutest note pad. These will surely come in handy when trying to keep up with my to-do's while planning for my wedding. eek!
Are you sold yet? Doing a gift swap is something I definitely suggest joining, especially after participating in about 5 of them. Well if the above didn't convince you then here's my 4 reasons you should.
4 Reasons You Should Participate in Blogger Swaps
+ You get to know other bloggers
+ Who doesn't love getting some snail mail?
+ It's fun picking out the gifts for your swap partner (or is that just me?)
+ You'll bring a smile to someone's face
I'm so thankful for my fantasticpartners ; they really hit the nail on the head and spoiled me. Have you participated in a swap before? Are you doing Secret Santa this year?
