Well if you haven't heard, WE'RE ENGAGED!!!!!!!!!
This weekend was absolutely perfect, more than I ever could've wished for, and a complete surprise! Thomas did an amazing job making it a day I'll never forget. And more importantly I am so excited to be marrying the man of my dreams and starting our life together.
But now for the part you're all here for; the details.
[warning: there's a lot of words + pictures]
12.06.14:
My friend Deanna (who is also getting married next year) had planned to come up that day and look for places to take her engagement pictures (I'm taking them for her where I live) so of course I thought nothing of it. We had plans to get our nails done, grab lunch and look for places to take the pictures.
She showed up to my house an hour early and I had to rush to get ready. Once I was ready we were off to get our nails done. And there I am still clueless of the days' events. Go figure.
We then attempted to head out to The Cone Manor, as a possible engagement picture location. After driving on a one lane, dirt/muddy road for about 20 minutes...sliding on the road...and losing service we never made it to the manor house. We decided to head over to the Parkway to an overlook near my house that she had "heard" about. All day Deanna kept calm and never gave away what was waiting for me.
Little did I know earlier that day Thomas had drove the four hours up (keep in mind we are in a LDR and he lives in another state) here, and arranged the whole day's plans . Meeting up with Deanna to show her where to bring me, and then while we were out and about on our adventure he went to my parents to tell them this was the official day that he was going to propose (he had asked my dad for permission previously).
The Proposal:
It had been raining and foggy all day, but when we showed up to the overlook on the Parkway, the rain had stopped and the fog just barely covered the mountains in the distance. Breathtaking. God's timing couldn't have been more perfect.
And there was Thomas, (a complete shock to me; remember the different states thing), flowers in hand. Beside him was the umbrella on the ground, which read "Come rain or shine I will always love you! Will YOU Marry Me?"
Walking over to him I was smiling from ear to ear and shaking like crazy. The moment I had dreamed of all my life was happening. It was a dream come true. He handed me the most beautiful flowers, got down on one knee, and pulled out the most gorgeous ring I have ever seen and asked, "Will you marry me?"
unfortunately the quality of this picture won't allow me to make it any bigger, but it has his face |
It's safe to say I SAID YES!
Or the ending to this post would've been really awkward!!
The Ring:
I am so so lucky to not only have this man in my life but two amazing, loving families behind us to support us on this adventure.
I am also thankful for my sweet friend Deanna who had a hand in all this and gave me the cutest "Bride-to-Be" gift basket.

ReplyDeleteOne word: HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLA!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Adorable proposal and gorgeous ring. Enjoy wedding planning!!
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! He was definitely sent to me by God, and I'm thankful for that everyday.
ReplyDeleteThanks girl! So far I'm having a blast planning.
ReplyDeleteHe knew that I really wanted to have them done beforehand so they'd be ready when I'd be showing off my ring, and arranged for me to go with my friend first. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you!! I'm over the moon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks girl :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!! We are still so excited. I thank God everyday for him.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with my ring; he couldn't have picked a more perfect one! Wedding planning is a blast so far!
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny is the reason he picked where he asked was the location and the scenery behind him. Yet my friend got the back of me and the parking lot instead of what was behind us, oh well. :) I wish I could've seen my face; I was in complete shock!
ReplyDeleteThanks love. I'm thrilled to be marrying this sweet man, and of course I'm obsessed with my ring!! Oh yes, pinterest has been my best friend lately.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, fantastic advice. We booked our venue within the month, and have been working on nailing down most of the big stuff since.
ReplyDeleteThe planning has been a blast, but I can't wait to be married to him (and FINALLY living with him too). This long distance finally has a end date.
ReplyDeleteThanks girl. I love my ring, and the way he asked. It couldn't have been more perfect. I can't wait to share more of my wedding process, and the stuff I've been working on. :)
ReplyDeleteI just checked out your post, great read! There's so much to take in and consider. I love reading other's wedding posts. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm glad you won't mind! I've been going crazy lately on Pinterest. There's just SO much good ideass.
ReplyDeleteAw thanks. :) It's kinda hard to believe that we're engaged (still)!!
ReplyDeleteThanks girl! It's about time I got to start using all in Pinterest ideas!
ReplyDeleteThanks love!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Meagan! It was better than I could've thought of myself; he did amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ash! I'm still over the moon, and so excited!
ReplyDeleteYep the best! He knew I would want my nails done, and got the help of a friend. It worked out perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juila, I'm pretty fond of it myself ;)
ReplyDeleteHe picked that overlook because of the gorgeous scenery. It was even more beautiful in person, and the fog cleared away at the perfect time! I have only had one dream so far, but I'm sure there will be more. So far I'm just having a blast planning. Good luck with your planning as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks girl! I know it was the craziest timing, but it worked out perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI love the umbrella, and still have it! It was such an amazing day; now I just can't wait for our wedding and life after that! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, he did amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteI know right! It's that season in our lives I suppose. But it's so exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! Do you have any wedding posts I could check out? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I was totally shocked, and it didn't even feel real for a long time! Even know I'm like is this really happening? Haha. Thanks Sarah!
ReplyDeleteOh yes God is good for sure. The timing and day was absolutely perfect. Now I'm just having fun planning, and looking forward to being married!

Aw thanks so much! I LOVE reading wedding posts, and hearing what other brides have to say after its all said and done. Off to check them out now!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with your ring, it's gorgeous! Congratulations and I hope the wedding planning has been going well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks love. I'm still obsessed with it; it's hard to believe it's really mine! Wedding planning has been a blast so far...let's just hope it stays that way. :)
ReplyDeleteExcuse the total awkwardness of this comment at the end of March, but I just read today's post and realized I never read about your engagement story. I love your ring! Not to seem nosey, but where is it from? My boyfriend and I have been ring shopping and I love this style and kinda wanna try this type of ring on. It's funny - you're a brunette about to marry a ginger and so am I (so cool... end of nerdy-ness)!
ReplyDeleteHaha, no I love that you found this post! I think the ring is from windsor jewelers. It's called a double halo, and you should definitely be able to find that in different stores. Too funny that they're both gingers!
