Eat Drink & Be Mary: Tis the Season to get Engaged {almost}

Tis the Season to get Engaged {almost}

It's almost here y'all.  Nope, I'm not talking about fall for once.  I'm talking about engagement season.  Once Thanksgiving rolls around, tis the season to get engaged which pretty much lasts until Valentines day.

The way I see it we can respond in two ways:

1. On my couch, in yoga pants, Ben & Jerrys in hand and a sappy, chick flick in the DVD player.

2. Use it as an excuse for some retail therapy, rather than throwing the pity party mentioned above.  Celebrate this time of change in your friends' lives and create your own DIY ultimate Engagement gift basket for them.

I'm thinking my waist will thank me for going with option number two...

Items to put in your DIY Engagement Gift:

+ Basket to hold it all & Tissue Paper to decorate a little
+ Future Last Name Monogram "H" \ Michaels ($2 in their section near the checkout)
+ Thank You Notes \ Michaels
+ Congrats Bride-to-Be Card \ Target

+"Sweating for the Wedding" tank \ AM Bridal Etsy Shop
use "BeMary25Off" for 25% off entire shop

I was fortunate enough to be apart of my best friends purposal.  The second her now-fiance told me he was going to purpose I knew that I wanted to get her this tank.  And the gift basket idea formed from there.

I have to admit I was most excited about the "sweating for the wedding" tank because my best friend loves working out.  The tank turned out amazing and everything I hoped it would be.

+ "with this ring" Ring Holder \ Unique Expressions

+ Monogrammed Koozie with new monogram \ The Preppy Pair

+ "To Love, Laughter and Happily Ever After" Wine Glass \ Hallmark

+ Nail Polish  ||  "Nailed" Note to go with Nail Polish

+ Fake Diamond Rings & Ring Pops \ Walmart

Other suggestions (not pictured):
+ bridal magazines
+ "bride" anything
+ "congrats" sign
+ wedding flutes, napkins, straws, cookies (to celebrate with)

Back to that tank I'm obsessed with...

When I frantically contacted the owner of AM Bridal, I professed my love for the tank and broke the new that I'd need it within a week.  Impossible in Etsy land, you say?  I thought so myself...But he surpassed my expectations by getting the tank to me within three days!!  I was thrilled to say the least.

What do you do when you find an Etsy shop you are over the moon about?  You share it with all your friends!  I mentioned that I was so impressed I would be mentioning on this little ole space & he was kind enough to offer my readers 25% off [BeMary25Off] his entire shop.  I was not paid or anything to hype up this shop; I was THAT impressed with the speed and quality!

Embrace yourself y'all -- the season to be engaged will be here before you know it.  What would you add to my DIY engagement basket?

  1. This is adorable! I put together a similar basket for my bestie when she got engaged, but I didn't even think of a cute wine glass like that! And I might have to get her that shirt now as well haha so smart!

  2. How stinking cute! I wish I knew someone getting proposed to soon! Most of my friends are already married. I did get to be a part (kinda) of my brother's proposal to his now wife, but that was over 2 years ago.

  5. This is adorable and such a good idea. When all my friends were getting engaged (forget the fact that I'd been with my boyfriend twice as long, whatever), I chose to respond with sweats, a bottle of wine and a chick flick...and tissues. Lots of tissues! haha! I love the gift basket, love!
