Eat Drink & Be Mary: For When you feel like saying "Why Me God?"

8.14.2014

For When you feel like saying "Why Me God?"

Sometimes we come across hardships in life--trials and tribulations--and all we want to respond with is "why me God?"  "What did I [or a loved one] do to deserve this?"

It is easy to praise God when everything is smooth sailing in your life.  But when a tragedy strikes?  It becomes easier to doubt God.  To question God.

We've all been there at one point, where we've come to trials in our life, dealt with tribulations and tragedies that aren't fair, but that's how life goes.  And it's important to remember that God has a plan.  For all of us.  Even though it may not seem like it now.

Philipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

2 Timothy 4:17 "But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed..."

Romans 5:3 "And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation produces patience"

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Romans 12:12  "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer"

Matthew 19:26 "But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

++ plus three more because I can't count to 10 apparently.  (Lord help my kinders)

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Lamentations 3:22-23 "Because of the Lord's great love we are not, consumed, for His compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

We serve an almighty God, and I have faith is His plan.

With that said.  Prayers are appreciated for my family.

What verses do you turn to when questioning God?  What songs remind you of God's power and faithfulness?  Are you in need of prayers, send me an email.  I'd love to talk and pray for you.

  5. As a Christian - seeing these posts, they really take my breath away and give me a faithful point of direction. This verse in particular struck a cord in my heart this morning:

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Thank you so much Mary for putting these posts together. They make an impact -at least on me!

  14. Love this, Mary! Thanks for linking up and sharing these verses. This is such an important thing to hold on to - there was a quote I saw earlier on facebook from Joel Osteen : "When lies bombard your mind, when you are most tempted to get discouraged, and when you feel like throwing in the towel—that’s not the time to give up. That’s the time to dig in your heels. Put on a new attitude. You’re closer than you think." And I love it, because it reminds me that Jesus is always in the know, always working on his plan. Stay focused. Sending prayers for your family!

I love your posts! You've definitely gained a new follower today! Excuse me while I stalk the rest of your posts:)

  19. I at times ask myself this. But, then I remember the song "Praise him thru the Storms" which is my fave song by Casting Crowns and it totally gets me going. It makes me lift my hands to the Lord and just praise him for all the things he's doing in my life. Despite everything I know he's always there and already knows the plan that he has set out for me.
