Eat Drink & Be Mary: Red White & BBQ

Red White & BBQ

It's the time folks.  Yep the season is among us.  Grillin' season that is.  To add to that excitement the Fourth of July, is right around the corner.  With the two of these combined there's bound to be red, white, blue, fireworks and sparklers plastered all over the interwebs.  And who am I to not add to all that excitement?

Grill Cupcakes.  These cupcakes are the perfect addition to your Independence Day BBQ.  They're cute, patriotic & irresistable.  A double whammy with a chocolate cake and chocolate icing.  And the best part?  Not only should they be on your table at this year's 4th of July BBQ, but they're great for any BBQ this summer or Father's Day (next year of course, always gotta be thinking ahead).  There's not a man in my family that wouldn't love these cupcakes.  Everyone loves grillin' season.  Now it's time for you to join in on the fun with these cupcakes.

My grills have charred hot dogs currently cooking away, but if you search Pinterest there are plenty of other foods you can top your grills with.

In my opinion the only way your table spread can get any cuter (once the grill cupcakes are set up of course) is too add a chalkboard fit for the 4th.  I came up with this design, and thought it was pretty darn cute, and it's SUPER easy to re-do yourself.  Believe me I'm not artist.  (I'd love to see your 4th of July chalkboard art if you put them on Insta @maryjean_xo)

But enough of my blabbering, let's get to business & find out how to make these bad boys.
All you need: Chocolate Cake Mix, Chocolate Icing, Black Icing, Red Cupcake Liners, Hot Tomales, Ziploc Bag or Icing Bag & Tip.

What to do: I made the cupcakes according to the box instructions, let them cool & iced them.
My tip for the black icing is to use a small icing tip, if you don't own this don't worry.  Squeeze the black icing into a ziplock bag, and cut a VERY SMALL piece of the corner off the bag, and use that to squeeze out the grill lines, and char on the hot dogs.

As for the decorating, I figured it would be easier for you to just follow the pictures than for me to try to explain it.  Please let me know if you have any questions on how to make & decorate these little suckers!

There ya have it.  The behind the scenes of how to make the Grill Cupcakes this Fourth of July.  What else will y'all be making this year?  Do you usually have a BBQ on the fourth?  What is your favorite Red, White & Blue treat to make?

And I know that some of y'all are fairly new around here.  I'd love for you to Meet the Girl Behind the Blog where I'm sharing 7 things you may or may not want to know about me over @ Endless Bliss Blog.
ps. Don't forget to enter the giveaway going on!
