7 Road Trip Essentials

If you've read my blog ever recently you've either realized that :

a] I'm in a long distance relationship

b] I've taken several beach trips already this summer

c] both.

Because in fact they're all true, which causes me to spend a lot of my time in the car.  Road Trippin'.  And now I've been at it again.  My family just took a road trip to Colorado.

Something like 26 hours in a car.  Holy Cow.  Life on the Road ain't easy y'all.  But they're are somethings that make it a little bit easier.

|| Books.  Plural.  Reading is the best way to pass the time.  Plus it's like a vacation without going anywhere, and believe me after the fourth hour stuck in a car I'd like to believe I'm anywhere but there.  My author of choice is Karen Kingsbury.  Read one of her books, you won't regret it.

|| Snacks.  The less you have to stop..the better.  The less money you have to spend..the better.  The less fast food you consume..the better.  So really you can see my need for snacks for the car ride.

|| Portable Charger.  Like I said above, we were in the car from Tuesday to Thursday.  And my phone doesn't just have an endless amount of battery power.  Unfortunately.  A charger would've been the perfect accessory during our road trip.  I mean seriously how cute can a charger get?  [one | two | three]

|| Camera.  Don't even think I'm about to take a road trip, without documenting it.  Not the inside of the car of course, but the stops we make and the destination.

|| Comfy Clothes.  I mean I'm going to be in a car for over a day, there's no need to impress anyone on the inside of the car.  There's no shame rocking some norts & a comfy tee.

|| Miscellaneous: chapstick - lotion - tissues - hand sanitizer - sunglasses - journal - water bottle

|| A Cute Tote to hold it all.  When you're trapped in a car for several hours, you don't want all your stuff to be everywhere making the space feel even smaller.  This tote from April Designs saved me from feeling cramped.  Isn't it the cutest?

What are your road trip essentials?  How would you pass that many hours in a car?  What's the longest road trip you've ever taken?  What essential did I not mention that you would take?

Happy 4th y'all!

  2. The pink shorts interest me! I thought you took a break from your road trip to go for a run. But now I understand they're just because they're comfortable?

  3. 26 hours in a car! Holy cow! I don't know if I could do it! The longest trip I was on was 14 hours and that was torture. haha! I definitely got a lot of new music for the trip, but unfortunately I'm one of those people that can't read in a moving car or I'll feel sick. Boo!

  6. Ahh! So jealous, haha. I would love to get to go to a beach, but summers are but a figment of imagination for me. :[ I hope you have an awesome holiday! My road trip essentials consist of comfy clothes, portable chargers, and a whole lot of food (and drinks). ...and mix CD's because I'm archaic. :D

If I'm not the one driving, I'm out like a light within 10-15 minutes, so bringing activities is a lost cause for me. :[

  8. These are great essentials! I'm getting ready to move across the country - SC to CA (to close our long distance gap!) so I'll be facing 42+ hours in a uHaul! I've already started thinking about how to keep my boyfriend and me from getting bored!

  9. Ummm 26 hours in the car?! And I thought 16 to drive up to Michigan was bad! With my family, I'm a fan of a blanket, because when my dad drives long distances, he likes to keep the car cold... Like, really cold. It's easier for me to sleep away some hours when I'm feeling cozier!

  14. That tote is amazing! It's huge and adorable. I definitely agree with these essentials. A camera is a definite must for all vacations (and life in general). I would not be able to get through a car ride without a bunch of snacks, especially not a 26-hour one. That's insane! The longest one I've taken is about 14 hours, and that was hard enough. And I never travel without books!

  15. I love this post and all of your road trip essentials. The tote is beautiful and I would love to have one. I am a bag freak anyway. I also need the charger so so badly. My phone is always dying. My bday is coming up so you have given me some great ideas. Tx! I hope you are having fun.

  16. I love road trips but I guess it's not the same in Europe. I automatically associate road trips with the US, probably because of the sheer size of the country ;)

  18. I'm leaving on a road trip tomorrow and this is a great list! My longest road trip is probably to road to my grandmother's house in the countryside of Canada, which is about 12 hours away. We used to go spend weekends there. Drive Friday, stay saturday and sunday, then come back Monday...ridiculous! But so fun!
