5 Tips for Quick & Easy Moving

Moving is a pain.  Seriously.  There's just not much worse than packing your life into boxes, knowing that within days you'll be unpacking it all, all over again.  UGH.  Take it from someone who has moved over SIX times in the past FIVE years (stupid college dorm rules) take any help & advice you can get when it comes to moving.

Soooo needless to say I'm excited to introduce to y'all Raewyn have her share these tips with you...

 Take it away Raewyn...

Since I graduated high school seven years ago, I have moved 14 times and packing is still a complete and total drag. Luckily, I've come up with some awesome tips to share slash attempt to follow whenever I have to move again (which, won't be for at least a year since I just signed a 12-month lease)

I'm not a professional like military wives are - seriously, envy your ability to pack everything up and move in such short notice - but I am quite gifted in knowing when it's a good time to take a break from packing all of your belongings before you start shoving things in bags and calling it a day.

I still do that last part, on occasion. But, I try to avoid that as much as possible.

1. Know when to take a break
I alluded at this one above but it seriously is my number one rule! It's very easy to get caught up in needing to be all packed (or unpacked) immediately. I get anxiety when things aren't finished. However, I've learned that there is a time in my packing where I start to feel frenzied and then I start shoving things places. Definitely not productive when I have to rewash my clothes because they are wrinkled.

2. Pack your clothes in your suitcases - rolled up
This one just makes sense. You most likely have suitcases. Rolling up your clothes and putting them in there as if you were packing on a trip is the smartest thing to do. Your clothes stay wrinkle free and suitcases are MADE for clothing.

3. Label everything with location and description
This one is also pretty easy, but instead of just writing KITCHEN you should write KITCHEN - cleaning supplies. That way you know that you can wait to open a box if it isn't as important. Or if you're looking for something (like your makeup) you'll know which box it is in versus opening a million boxes labeled bathroom to find it.

4. Ask for boxes!
Buying boxes is a waste of money. You're going to use those boxes for a few days and then throw them away. Every company has boxes! Most are willing to give you some if you ask. The best places to go to are grocery stores and department stores (like Kohls)

5.  Feed the people who help you move
I mean entice them with their favorite fast food! Definitely mention this BEFORE they start loading your stuff up, because then they will pack it faster! lol. I've been known to buy everyone In N Out - which if you've heard of it, you know it's the best burgers ever!

I hope these tips helped! I'm off to finish unpacking,

  4. This is great. I have helped so many friends move and I have to say if it is short distances- leave your clothes on the hanger so you can automatically hang them up when you get to your new digs :)
