Spalfredo {a twist on two classic dishes}

...Spalfredo.  pronounced sp-al-fray-dough

Ps. Don't forget to link up for Delicious Dish Tuesday this week!

Tired of having plain old spaghetti or alfredo?  Well today I am bringing you a delicious solution.  The perfect blend of the two classic sauces, and boy! is it a yummy result. Sometimes it's just time to mix it up and try something new in the kitchen, and thanks for good ole Pinterest I found just that.
This dish was re-named Spalfredo by my oh-so-clever dad.  Spa+lfredo is a delicious cheesy pasta that is easy to make.  You simply make the pasta, mix the sauces, add cheese, bake and wahhlaa dinner is served.  But for those of you, like me, that need a recipe to follow here's how you make this dish...

Spalfredo Pasta
original recipe found here

What you need:
- One box of penne pasta
- 1 jar of spaghetti sauce (24oz)
- 1 jar of alfredo sauce (11oz)
-2 C mozzarella cheese, shredded
-1 C parmesan cheese

What to do:
Preheat oven to 350.
1. Bake the pasta, almost all the way.  It will finish cooking in the oven.
2. Mix sauces together and add mozzarella cheese.
3. Mix pasta and sauce together and pour in a 9x13 pan.
4. Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes, until bubbly.  Add parmesan cheese on top and cook for 5 more minutes.
5.  Serve with garlic bread/knots and enjoy!

Have you ever heard of this pasta dish?  Do you prefer spaghetti or alfredo sauce?  Does your family get a kick outta making up names for things?  Have you entered in my giveaway? Happy Tuesday loves.

  1. Yum!!! this looks really good, I make all my own spaghetti sauces though so I'll have to buy the Alfredo sauce bottle, (no one in the family but me likes it)

  2. I don't care for alfredo sauce, but this sounds like it would be a good way to play up your regular sauce! I have to say those garlic knots look delicious too!

  3. It looks good but I gotta say my nonna is a purist and if I made anything with an alrfredo sauce in it (you won't find alfredo sauce in italy) she would just KNOW. Like a crazy italian nonna ;)
