Eat Drink & Be Mary: A Blonde and Her Man {a love story}

A Blonde and Her Man {a love story}

Today I have a special treat for y'all.  I'm letting one of my dear bloggy friends take over my space, to tell you all about the man that gets through each day, and their one of a kind relationship.  I don't know about y'all but I LOVE reading about other people's love stories, it leaves me feeling a lovey dovey inside.

Ashley is a blogger over at The Grits Blog that has a tell-it-like-it-is attitude, which I love.  She often is writing about fashion, bloggy tips & everything hair, but she isn't afraid to blog about the good days and the not-so-good.  But enough about my adoration for this sweet blonde, get to know her & your hubby yourself...

Take it away Ash!

Chris and I have a long, weird, romanticish story. I find it awkward to write about "our story". So I am going to do a Q&A. If there is anything missing or if you want to know something - hit me up via social media or email!

(1) How did you two meet?
We have known each other since we were little kids. Growing up our parents had beach cabins next door to each other. Every summer we would go down and always be outside playing with the kids from the street.

(2) When did the "sparks" fly?
Truthfully, I thought he was hot and cute since the moment I knew what that feeling was. BUT he didn't notice me until the summer I was 15 and he was 16. That summer was THE SUMMER. THAT SUMMER my friend came down to the beach with me and we kind of got into this competition over him - he totally knew it too! He even fed into the little drama that was a brewin' between my friend and me. We would go out fishing and he would sit beside her and me beside her and put his arm around her and then rub my shoulder. The little player. Anyways, I won.

(3) How did you guys end up together?
My parents ended up moving down to the beach for a year when I was 15 turning 16 and that was it! Chris and I were hooked on each other. I still get butterflies in my stomach when I think about it. It was {{and still is!!}} that puppy, first true love. BUT my family ended up moving back to Georgia at the end of my sophomore year - I got into an accelerated program and graduated high-school a year early. I moved back to Florida for school {{and partly for Chris}} and we stayed together on and off all through college.

(4) How did Chris propose?
By the time I graduated college Chris and I had been together for SEVEN YEARS!! The boy still had not proposed and so I told him that if he didn't propose and I got a great job offer somewhere out of where we lived that I would take it. I got a great job offer, I took it, we broke up, and I left.

To say we broke up is weird - we still spoke EVERY DAY. I left in April and we got back together in July. He proposed on August 18, 2012. Chris completely surprised me! He drove up when my college roomie was in town and knocked on my door, got down on knee, and asked if I would marry him. I about died and went to heaven. I just couldn't believe that this was happening to me. It was perfect. I obviously said yes.

(5) What are y'all up to now?

We live in Florida and have three precious angel puppies.

We aren't living happily ever after - but we work hard on our relationship. I am grateful to have him in my life - he accepts me with all my quirks and weirdness. Also, he makes me laugh. Not many people can do that. He just gets me better than anyone I know, he's my best friend. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Still wanna know some more details? I have a post on our wedding here!

It's me again.  Is she not the cutest?  You can see the happiness on their engagement night, that kind of happiness is contagious y'all.  Head on over to her blog and say hello & link up with The Little Friday link up {where anything goes, and its live now}!

  1. Awwr! Hearing stories like this totally melts my heart. Thanks for sharing, girl! I think that having someone that accepts you for who you are is one of the most important things about a relationship. And having a solid friendship with someone you can be goofy around and laugh with never hurts either. Happy for you!

  2. I love how the pictures progress. Went from a boy and a girl in love to a woman and a man in love! So sweet!

  3. awww how cute!! I love The Grits Blog and this story makes me like her even more!

  4. Thank you SO much Mary for your sweet, sweet introduction!! You are always just way too good me and are truly a blogging gem of a friend to have.

It makes me so happy each time you leave a comment. I love connecting with my readers! Happy blogging friends.
