Eat Drink & Be Mary: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

For today's post I was planning on recapping a weekend spent with T, but no thanks to this good ole snow storm I was unable to make it to see him.  Valentines Day plans canceled.  And making me one very unhappy girl.  After a week full of snow, cold weather and canceled plans I felt the need to vent with a couple of my rants and raves.  So here you have it-The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

The Good.

+ I am so thankful for a dad who was willing to come to my rescue Thursday and help me get out of the driveway.  {When I thought I was well on my way to SC.}

+ {After making it all the way to I 77, the on ramp was not plowed leaving many cars stuck on the exit.}  I am incredibly thankful for the two men that helped me back onto the highway, pushing my car back to freedom and avoiding be stuck and stranded there.  It touched me that two strangers were so willing to help without being asked, expecting nothing in return.

+ During said failed attempt I relied heavily on God's guidance and his control over my safety.  I swear I could feel him protecting me, and my rear wheel drive car, through those last miles of unplowed roads & exit ramp.

+ The snow may have ruined my plans (not once, but twice) but the snow sure is a beautiful sight.

+ Online Shopping, also known as retail therapy.  I indulged when I realized my plans fell through and needed a pick me up.  *Cue the perfect timing of INPINK, sending me a $20 gift card through a giveaway I entered on GBO Fashion's blog.*  I am beyond ecstatic to receive my items in the mail.

The Bad.
+ I broke down (emotionally, not my car) once I was finally headed back home; realizing my Valentines day plans were officially crushed.  I prayed for God to help me keep it under control so that I could safely make it back home, not looking through teary eyes, and for understanding in his timing.  Not one minutes later, one of my favorite songs came on the radio.  Maybe this one actually belongs under 'The Good'?

+ The fact that I'm not in SC right now.

+ My headaches have come back, more frequently, again.  Stress related possibly?

+ I'm almost out of coffee creamer, with no telling when I'll make it to the store next.

+ I got very into a Criminal Minds episode the other day, only to realize that the entire show did not record 30 minutes in.

+ I can never paint my nails on my left hand as well as I can on my right.  #firstworldprobs #lefthandedprobs
sounds like me.

The Ugly.
+ The aftermath of, snow + a snow plow + a dirt road.  Ugly.  {It's offical I'm over all this snow.}

Ps. I finally got up the nerve to create a facebook page for this here blog.  Any tips for me?

  1. Oh no!!!! I am so sorry you did not get to see your guy this weekend! I get really cranky and emotional too when I don't get to spend time with mine. I turn into a little kid and start crying like I'm homesick lol. Hope you guys get some quality time soon to make up for this!

  4. Oh my gosh! I got a rush of anxiety reading about you getting stuck in the snow. I seriously think I have PTSD from all the winters I spent driving when I lived in the mid west. So glad people came to your rescue.

    I also spent a good amount of time online shopping this weekend... probably too much time and too much money haha

    That's horrible!!

    At least you are (a) safe and (b) not stranded!! I know how that feels - banking on getting to your man and then boom your plans are crushed. Just know that it happened for a reason!

  12. Aww - I'm sorry it did not work out as planned, but I really did love that you found some positives in the weekend. That is great that you were able to get some help - and manage to snap some really gorgeous snow photos! Snow doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't involve me traveling anywhere! 14. I know the heartache of changed plans in a long-distance relationship. So, I get that disappointment. However, after being disappointed enough, I finally just packed up my car and moved 12 hours away from my family! Problem solved. Only the bad would be missing the fam. It was still my best move ever!

  15. Oh no! I hate when plans change, you get so excited for them and then they can change at any second. Hope everything goes better this week for you!
