Eat Drink & Be Mary: Time Flies...

Time Flies...

I truly hope that your weekend was as wonderful as mine.  Thomas left yesterday, and the five days he was here seemed like five minutes.  Ahh time flies.  Now off to my recap our weekend...

Thursday || Yes, I'm considering Thursday part of my weekend.  Thomas took me to Olive Garden for lunch.  Yum!  Olive Garden is one of my favorite restaurants, and I loved having the time just Thomas & I.  Not being able to see each other that often, I think it is important for us to not only spend time alone, but without any distractions (including no phones).  Following our lunch date we went to my Grandmama & Bubby's and played games well into the night.  He is sweet to spend so much time with everyone in my family, joking around and being involved in the conversations rather than being consumed by his phone.  Blessed is an understatement.

Friday || I finally got back in the gym, after not going since Sunday.  Taking four days off from the gym was the greatest idea I've ever had...not.  But I'm back at it, and adding towards my goal of 100 miles by Valentines day.
The rest of the night we caught up on Teen Wolf.  We love the show, and just happened to come across in on Netflix awhile ago and were hooked.  But I can't bring myself to watch it alone.  And since I've been living the life since moving back home that was the extent to our Friday night.

Saturday || Its safe to say I made everyone in my family (and Mr. T) happy Saturday morning when I made Gorilla Bread, also known to many as monkey bread. But my family has a different spin on the original recipe. The day was extra windy and chilly--am I the only one tired of these frigid days?  After a clogging practice and some gym time, my family watched Wreck-it-Ralph.  Such a cute movie, and had me giggling the entire time.  Saturday night, I also baked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bars--recipe to come in the near future.

This SC was out of his element, in these freezing temperatures

I love how you can see each individual snowflake.  It amazes me that we have such a wonderful God, that he makes no two snow flakes alike. #amazed

Sunday || After spending the morning listening to God's word, we came over to my Grandmama & Bubby's for lunch.  Celebrating my mom, and both brother's birthdays.  Their birthdays are all within four days.  Whoa baby!  If I haven't mentioned it before, my grandparents are the best chefs & bakers out there.  No lie.  We had Meat Pie (a family recipe) and Carrot Cake--two of my family's favorites.  And we were not disappointed.  Thomas left after lunch, and we finished up the evening...you guessed it...playing games.  We are a gaming bunch.

I hope you all had wonderful weekends, filled with family and laughter.  I hate that Thomas had to leave, but we're that much closer to the next time we'll see each other.  Not like I'm counting or anything but it's 18 days ;)

Also, just because I'm curious, are any of you in long distance relationships?  What do you do to make the time pass/handle the long distance?

  2. I'm glad you had such a great weekend! My husband and I were long distance while he was in the Army and stationed in Louisiana {I lived in Michigan}. We Skyped every single day {except when he was in Afghanistan} even if it was only for 5 minutes, we made plans before our time together came {I want to visit here, I want to eat here, ect} so that we didn't waste time trying to figure out what we wanted to do, and we ALWAYS made sure to have 100% alone time. When we were apart I stayed busy with college and work, reading, blogging, and a lot of TV/movies lol

  8. Your weekend sounds and looks wonderful. It is so great to hear about it. I don’t know too much about long distance relationships. I just imagine it would be so hard.

  9. Glad I found your blog through Manic Monday! I had to say goodbye to my fiance this Saturday. We had two weeks together and it was just wonderful! I may not see him again for 8 weeks, boo. I try to keep busy to help keep my mind off the long distance. Cooking and writing blog posts help so much! Dogs are also a wonderful distraction. : ) By the way, like your dress too!

  11. I've never done the long distance thing, but I would be open to it if I knew that person was worth it and he showed me the same feeling in return.

It seems like you had a great weekend! I love your chevron print dress, very chic. Your mom is so pretty! Happy birthday to her and your brother.

  12. Oh man, long distance relationships are tough - I've done it a couple of times, and it's not easy! But it sounds like you are savoring your time together, and that's great! Loved all these photos! And I LOVE Olive Garden, too! Sucks that we can't go there without waiting for over an hour to eat, but it's so worth it! Thanks for sharing this with manic monday!
