Eat Drink & Be Mary: January 2014

Top 5 Party Foods

Myself with the birthday boys & gal.
It's birthday season around these parts folks.  Three birthdays within four days--my mom's, and both little brothers.  Madness I tell ya!  So I thought it fitting to list my top 5 party foods on this fine Friday...

Oreo Balls Recipe #blog post, #recipe, #dessert, #oreos
Oreo Balls. Oreos & cream cheese, covered in white chocolate.  Absolute deliciousness, in a bite-sized treat.  My brothers love them.
Two ingredient fruit dip (a 60 second recipe) on I Heart Nap Time
Key Lime Yogurt Fruit Dip.  What I love about this is you can switch out the yogurt flavor for which ever sounds good to you.  There's only two ingredients, and it's a little more health conscious for those of you still trying to keep up with your New Year's Resolutions.

Buffalo Chicken Dip
Buffalo Chicken Dip.  Dips are perfect for parties, and this one is always a hit at any function I go to.  The extra kick of spicy, is perfect.  Not too much, not too little.  And my favorite part?  Easily made in the trusty crock pot.

Top 5 Party Foods #food, #party food, #birthdays, #birthday flavored, #birthday cake, #oreo balls, #buffalo chicken dip, #rice krispies,
Birthday Cake Treats. Rice Krispies Treats with a birthday twist.  I absolutely love rice kripsy treats, and these look amazing!  Plus, I love any party foods that made for on-the-go.

And for the over 21. Birthday Cake Martini.  I've never had one of these, but birthday cake flavored anything is a-okay in my book.

What are your go-to party foods?  Any suggestions for what I should make for my three birthday loves?  Thinking of trying any of these--let me know how they turned out!

PS. I just realized that on my sponsor/advertise page I had the wrong email.  What?! Anyways, go ahead and check out my page, with the updated email address. I'd love to have your cute, smiling face on my sidebar :)

PSS. Question.  When people view your posts on bloglovin' does it count towards your page views?  There's no real reason I'm asking other than curiosity and I'm sure someone out there has the answer to my question.

Liebster Award

I was nominated three times!  Whoa baby!  Thanks to, Michelle from It's the New Twenty, Bella over at Dateless in Dallas & Elisabeth at My Cup of Sparkles.  This makes me sooo happy.  I started this blog with a million things to say, and no idea how to word them.  With the hopes that at least a handful of people would be interested in this life I live and all I have to say.  The Liebster award is given by fellow bloggers to new blogs with smaller followings, but huge potential; it is a great way to find new blogs as well as support one another.

The rules of the award are as follows:

Mention the person who nominated you with a link to their blog.

Answer the eleven questions they asked.

Nominate eleven other bloggers with a smaller following but a lot of potential.

Create eleven of your own questions for them to answer.

Notify your nominees.

These were my questions from Michelle...

Are you a morning or night person? Night person by far.

Favorite drink at Starbucks? I'm really more of a keurig kinda girl, mainly because I'm broke at thats cheaper.  But if I had to chose I'd go with a Iced Vanilla Latte.

Have you ever traveled to another country? This past summer I traveled to England with my clogging team.  It was a blast, to say the least.  We met several people from many different countries at the festival we performed at.

Best concert you've ever been to? Mmm this is a tough one.  But I'd probably have to say the concerts I give in my car on road trips are a true fan favorite.

Who is your celebrity crush? If you've read my blog, at all, the past month (mentioned herehere & here), you'd know that this question is a no brainer.  A combination between Juan Pablo & Criminal Mind's Derek Morgan (aka: Shemar Moore).

The thing you'd most love to buy that you will never afford? This question was by far the most difficult for me.  But I'm going with a house with a pool.  I may be able to afford this one day, but not in the near future.  There's some important steps that'd have to take place first.  1. Move somewhere warm, having a pool in the mountains is pointless. 2. Oh and then there's that whole job situation...

What is your favorite charitable cause? I'm not exactly if I have a "favorite" per say.  But my church is having a Face of a Child event, where you sponsor a child for a month, and I am very interested in participating.  Also, Mission Cute sounds very appealing, check it out for yourself here and here.

What is your favorite thing about your significant other? Or, if you're single, the quality you most look for? Ahh this is difficult.  But I feel like it should be.  Isn't the point of your other half to be your best friend.  To love almost all of their qualities.  Do we agree on everything?  Not even close.  But he has all the qualities I want in a man, and more.  Add his looks into the mixture, and I'm sold.  Clearly.

Where and when did you ride your first roller coaster? Disney land, probably around six?  We have lots of family in Ca, and visited often when I was younger taking many trips to the happiest place on Earth.

TV in the bedroom: yes or no? In my house, we've never been allowed to have a TV in our bedrooms.  I believe part of the reasoning was to force us to all hangout in the living room as a family.  In college I had a TV in my room, and I now can't fall asleep without the noise.  Maybe there was a method to my parents' madness.

Which Kardashian is most like you? This question makes me giggle.  I enjoy the show, out of pure stupidity, and I just love reality TV shows. I'd like to think I'm not like any of them, but if I had to choose I'd say Kourtney.  She's my favorite, and she has the most adorable kids.

Bella's Questions:
1. What did you like most about high school? Um is nothing an answer?  But if I had to choose I'd go with the friendships I made there that have lasted through my college years.

2. What is your biggest fear? Getting kidnapped, this may have something to do with the fact that I'm constantly watching Criminal Minds and Law & Order: SVU--but I'm terrified of it.

3. If you won the lottery and had one day to spend it, where would you spend it? Just one store? Target would definitely take up a large sum.  But really, I'd definitely want to invest in a house and a automatic car, and  new cars for the people on my family.  You get a car, and you get a car, everyone gets a car!

4. What do you like most about blogging? Having my thoughts and memories recorded, but it makes it ten times better to know y'all have an interest in what I post about.

5. Do you have kids? If not, do you want kids? No kiddos for this girl, but I definitely want kids and always have a case of baby fever.

6. How has 2014 treated you so far? Well, life's been pretty simple so far.  But I'm ready to get this ball on a roll...

7. Describe yourself in three words Loud, unorganized & happy.

8. Which is your favorite holiday?
By far Christmas, but I'd say Valentines is a close second.
9. What do you think about dating in our generation? I think it's funny how much dating has changed since my parents started dating.  Gone are the days of love notes and going on dates to get to know each other.  Now we text one word answers in hopes to get to know a potential soul mate, that sounds promising...

10. Tell me about a time when you met a celebrity {or someone important}, who was it and how did you react? I'm pretty positive I've never met a celebrity, first world problems right here.  Woe is me.

11.Which one, Edward or Jake? {Twilight} I'm actually not a Twilight fan, but Jacob is by far cuter and not as pale obviously.

Elisabeth's questions:
1. Who is your idol? My mom, all my life I've tried to be just like her, and it hasn't stopped yet.  She is a wonderful mom, loves the Lord, and has set a great example for my brothers and I.

2. How did you get into blogging? I read several blogs for a while before even considering making one myself.  Towards the end of last year I found a blog of a childhood friend, and it hit me that I could start my own blog as well.  Why the heck not, I got lots of thoughts floating around in my head, and thought it would be a good place to keep pictures as well... And so Eat Drink & Be Mary was born...

3. If you could have any superpower, what would it be? This is a difficult one, but I'd say teleporting.  That'd come in handy when I felt like visiting friends from school or Thomas on a whim, without having to drive several hours in a car.

4. What's your favorite TV show? This is a toughy..only because I have so many TV shows I love.  To list a few...Criminal Minds, Greys Anatomy, Law & Order:SVU, Teen Wolf...the list could go on and on.

5. What would your dream job be? A Stay at home wife/mom with blogging and clogging on the side.  Sounds like perfection to if only I can make this happen...

6. If you could go back in time and do one thing differently, would you? And what would it be? Be more present throughout time spent with family and during college.  We joke home much time is spent on our phones, but it truly takes away from our presence in the reality right in front of us.

7. What's your favorite social media platform? Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Pinterest? Instagram and then Pinterest.

8. Do you prefer cats or dogs or neither? Dogs by far.  I had a maltese puppy in high school, and he was the cutest.

9. Who's blog is one of your favorite daily reads? (I just love finding out about new blogs that other bloggers love) This is the most difficult of all 33 questions.  There are so many blogs I read on a daily basis, and I'm constantly finding new ones that I love.  But to narrow it down I'd have to go with... Little Baby GarvinThe Modern TulipA. Liz Adventures, and The Grits Blog

10. Do you have a "hidden" talent? What is it? Hidden Talent?  Not unless it's so hidden even I don't know about it.

11. Would you rather be be blind or deaf? Why? I'd have to go with blind, because it would leave so much to the imagination, similar to reading a book.

Well there you have it folks, 33 questions.  That was more difficult that I expected.

I nominate:
11. On the Daily Express

Here are your questions:
1. How did you pick your blog name?
2. Name a food/meal you could eat everyday for a week?
3. If your life were a movie, which movie star would play you?
4. Who is your celebrity crush?
5. Do you sleep with your closet doors open or closed?
6. What is your favorite topic to blog about?
7. What do you dip a chicken nugget in?
8. Do you still live close to family?
9. What is a movie you could watch over and over?
10. Coffee or tea?
11. If you were going to be on a reality TV show, which one would it be?
Enjoy, sweet girls!

Oh, and Happy Birthday to the woman who gave me life, and who's made life worth living.  A woman who has taught me what love is, and how a man should treat you.  A woman who gave me my love for baking and to become a teacher.  A woman who raised me to be a woman of God and to have a healthy self-esteem.  The woman I aspire to be.  Fifty Thirty-nine has never looked better.  Happy Birthday Mom!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Super Bowl Quote

When I came up with this title I immediately thought of the Monday Night Football Theme song.  If you did also, then you most likely grew up around all boys like myself.  And for that I congratulate you for surviving a childhood of rough housing and Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays with nothing on the TV except football.  If there were ever a proud moment for my dad, now should top them all.
